That was the message today about borrowing your tithe and paying back with 1/5th. Is it the 1/5ht of the tithe or 1/5th of the total income?

It has nothing to do with borrowing your tithes, read the passage properly again in context. Biblical tithes was meant to be strictly agric produce, if for any reason you decide to monetise it, you paid a penalty of 1/5th of the value. That said tithing is an obsolete jewish law which is not applicable to christians.

That's nice, I stopped going to my former church as well because of the emphasis on the false tithe doctrine. smiley

It is applicable to us sir. Except you are saying that you have no business being engrafted into the Abrahamic Covenant. You are in or you are out. You don't pick and choose which part of the covenant includes you.
The work of the kingdom is much more tasking today than it even was in those days. What are we to use to take the gospel to the ends of the earth? What are we to use to run orphanages? Etc.
That some pastors are abusing their offices and stealing God's money doesn't nullify the covenant or ordinances of Tithing. Why are Christians struggling everywhere in the world? Why do we resort to getting our hands dirty to make it financially? It's because Satan has deceived us to depart from the ordinances that opens financial doors supernaturally. Is God still the one who gives you power to make wealth? As a christian, if you do not give back to him who gave you the wisdom and ideas to make that wealth, then you are going to suffer alot trying to do it yourself.
Till today as we speak, the Jews don't compromise the covenant of Tithing. Go and compete with them in any way and see.
Satan has really lied to us.
If you don't pay it's okay, but let's not discourage others.

And that church will grow fine without you. You were a spy there anyways. If you go next Sunday you would see that your seat has been occupied. The Bible said "And his seat, let another take", we are better without spies in our midst.
But know you what? Everyone pays Tithe. You either pay to God or to the devil. To God, you pay 10% and keep 90%. Then You commit him to save your hospital bills, sudden deaths, police cases and attacks of the enemy.
To the devil, which maybe accidents, untimely death of a family member or friend, Sickness, Police case, Satan collects it in so many ways. And it's not optional. You can't help but pay.
You pay 90%, sometimes 100% and still borrow.
Don't worry, keep your 10%. "Upon the Rock He has build His Church"...
You know what? Since you feel God is not worthy of you, Satan will get you into cutting a deal with him, when that happens, you'll wish you remained with God, but that time it won't be 10% you be asked. It will be your precious mum, then you know there's no free gift anywhere.

it means if the tithe is supposed to be 5000, you pay back 6000 as a form of redemption. you add the 1/5th to the tithe.
but personally, I believe we should try not to default in the first place (to obey is better than sacrifice). God bless.

Sweet heart don't get it twisted, the Abrahamic covenant had absolutely nothing to do with tithes and Abraham's tithe was a one off incident which he did from war booty that didn't belong to him and not from his regular income.

That said church activities can be funded from free will offerings and donations to the church, you cannot use church funding requirements as justification to twist the word of God to raise money for the church. Also note that the church as always grown and survived without tithes. The monetary tithe from income doctrine is a doctrine that crept into the church in the late nineteenth century and it was introduced by American evangelical churches. Prior to that the church had grown and thrived for 1,800 years without tithes so your suggestion that the church needs tithes to fund it's activities does not suffice.

It's okay dear. The Jews pay Tithe and they get really blessed. Am paying Tithe and am really getting blessed. What is the evil in Tithe paying? Christianity is hinged on giving. To make Kingdom wealth, you give.
So, I wll leave it here.

Most jews don't pay tithes today because the temple as been destroyed and the levitical priesthood that is legally entitled to collect tithes doesn't exist anymore. That aside the jews are doing well today not because they pay tithe but because they are the chosen race and God's covenant with them which had nothing to do with tithes. I am also doing very well and I don't pay tithes smiley

Meanwhile christianity is not hinge on giving but on loving. Giving is meant to be a mere expression of that love. And kingdom wealth is not of this world but is heavenly. smiley

You're not blessed because you paid tithes, you're blessed because of Christ and you being in Christ. The Abrahamic Covenant you claimed or mentioned wasn't because he tithe, he's been blessed before he tithe so tithe don't bless a man giving does. And there's a wide difference between tithing and giving. The early Apostolic church was never taught tithing but giving and they were blessed. I do not tithe but I'm a giver by Grace!
