A former secretary to the Federal Government and former presidential candidate, Chief Olu Falae, has declared that he would depend solely on God for protection following repeated attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen on his farm in Akure, Ondo State.

Falae, who is chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and a Yoruba monarch, spoke with Punch on telephone on Saturday, April 9, 2016 saying that he doesn’t know the reasons he is a target of terrorist Fulani herdsmen.

On Friday, a gang of ten Fulani terrorists invaded the farm of the elder statesman and killed a security guard. The guard, identified in Vanguard’s report as a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), was contracted to work as a security personnel on the following the September 2015 kidnapping of Chief Falae.

“I do not know what is happening. It’s worrisome. May God deliver us,“ the chief told Punch. “I am not going to say anything. I will just rely on God (for protection).”

Falae was released by his terrorist Fulani herdsmen after the Ondo State government paid a ransom of N5 million for his release. The gang of kidnappers were later apprehended by the police and another gang arrested by the country’s secret police.

Falae had identified his kidnappers in police custody and they have been charged to court. Their trials are still on-going.

Typical of Nigerians to always leave everything in 'the hands of God'. Anytime a Nigerian faces a challenging situation, instead of struggling to find a solution, he simply ' LEAVES EVERYTHING IN THE HANDS OF GOD'

Do a good deed for a Nigerian man and the next thing you here him say is 'GOD WILL BLESS YOU'.

A Nigerian man finds himself in a challenging, life threatening, almost hopeless situation. Instead taking his fate in his hands, he'll simply tell you, 'NA GOD TO HELP US O'

A man encounters a disappointing setback in life, or something tragic. Rather than accept responsibility and take practical steps to chart a new course, he simply resigns himself to saying IT IS THE WILL OF GOD

I'm not against belief and trust in God. But we kind of take this too far, making it difficult for us to take practical steps to find a solution to our problems. This resignation to divine powers makes people too static and unprogressive. When white men encounter a problem, they don't leave it to God to come and solve it for them. They do research and build machines and developed technology and strategy to solve that problem. Not staying docile and static waiting for God to come down and solve your problems for you. What did he give you a brain for? For Gods sake, let's learn to use the brain God has given us, like the whites are doing, build technologies, machines, developed a plan of action and strategy. AND STOP LEAVING EVERYTHING IN THE HANDS OG GOD

"Abia treatment" of Fulani herdsmen is the only solution.

The FG is not ready nor willing to protect anyone from Fulani herdsmen attacks.

We are all at the mercy of Buhari kinsmen, so every community must arm itself to repel this murderous group.

It is foolishness waiting for a government that will rather give support to killers.

Don't be fooled by the 'God' reference by Nigerians. Nigerians are no more spiritual than most countries, so it's merely a front to win sympathy by striking a chord with the religious Nigerians.
