why dont pastors preach this verse ? lol , the average churchman has been brainwashed to belive he gat a duplicate life , a soul form that goes to either heaven or hell after he died, ask such ones , what happen to their body after death ? they tell you it decompose . but the below is something that uv never been told or never given a second thought Matthew 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. MizJanet, there's a physical body and there's a spiritual body. The physical body dies and decomposes but the spiritual body lives forever. Christ was not talking about the physical body being thrown into hell. He was talking about the soul in an unregenerated spiritual body being cast into hell. |

HELL IS GRAVE BUT THE FIRE REMAIN TILL JUDGEMENT SO IT IS DUE TO SIN satan kills the christians if you love ur life u loose it jesus christ did not mention any thing about 'IDOLS' because the normal idol the whole world knew is not actually the real idol that is sacrificing to an image this is earthly and is from serpent in us we think praying that God to protect us and kill those who after us is right thing and this is the Idolatry and is sin leading to death so christians who dies promoting this might not be allow to come back again to earth till judgement but evil doer who are not christians we be granted to come to the earth. |

MizJanet: This single verse has plagued Christians since the beginning of AD (death of Christ.) Different bible scholars have shared various exegesis and eisegesis on the intention of Christ when he stated this very high and obviously impossible standard of righteousness in what is today known as the Sermon on the Mount. Mention this verse to any Christian and they will be quick to tell you their pastor's explanation which of course they hold as the only divine interpretation.lol That said, most pastors will tell you it is a figurative expression to ridicule the Jewish audience who pride themselves in their acts of self-righteousness. Christ apparently knowing that no one could ever live up to this standard of righteousness, yet declaring it to be the only standard of righteousness that is admissible in heaven. This supposedly is to make one rely on the provision of Grace which is accessible only through Christ. Grace making one assume the Righteousness of God through Christ. However, it is ironic that they do not consider the other portions of the same chapter figurative. How convenient. I believe it is as straight forward as it is. Christ was not being figurative but as literal as it is. Now to answer the question if the bible was referring to the human body and not the soul. I believe this is apparent. This verse refers to the human physical body. But while considering this as a high standard expected of the body, don't forget to also put into consideration the expectation of the soul and the spirit.lol The bible does make it clear, that a person has to be perfect in body, spirit and soul. "May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thessalonians 5:23 The irony once again is that the same bible that says you are the Righteousness of God through the Grace of Christ, still expects you to be perfect in body, soul and spirit before the coming of Christ. Which is why I say the bible is self-contradictory in so many ways. I rest my case hoping to learn from the opinions of others. |
