Hello guys I need someone to tutor me on how to turn photos into vector cartoon .... I av adobe illustrator cs6 I need some tutorials. Av turned google upside down but can't get anything

after blocking out the hair, I looked out for the hair highlights, filled in with white carefully, reduced the opacity and apply a little blur

Which software did u use? illustrator or corel draw? and how did u bring out the design on the cap she was wearing?

It was all done in photoshop.... As for the cap, I simply turned the photo into a line sketch and clipped(power clipping) it the blue portion of the cap

Prettytasha is a boss in dis game too... cheq out some of her designs on her page

i use a program called inkscape,I trace arround individual aspects of the object and put them on individual layers according to their stacking(which is above or below) eg. hair( probably has two layers hair1: is behind the head n body,hair2: for if hair fall infront aswell), body on its own layer.head on ota own layer etc.next I add the elements they done need layers of their own, eyes,nose mouth all stay on face layer. nipples or chest can be on the body etc.and then the clothes can have a layer of its own.


I then sample colours from the prignial diagram and create vector boxes of my palates. hair has two colours, for stroke and fill, same with face,cloth etc.a darker of the same colour as the fill is used for the outline.
then I add details to the hair. look for prominent features or curls and trace a strokeless shape of them, no need to do all the hair cuz u can't. atleast I can't,Wld take a lot of time esp if its a very long and complex hair.when I initially trace the hair, I don't too much bother with precision,I trace the most solid part of the hair,(where all strands are together) then later add strokes to make for the prominent strands with my pencil tool.combining(union) the stroke with the solid hair I traced before when am done, to make them one object with the same fill. then I go into shading and highlighting. I shade with black only, opacity about 25, holight with white Sewell but a much lower opacity. depending on the image i may decide to have two shade tones.
