A Geography And Planning Science Student Needs All Nairalanders Help.. by Lisaint(m): 6:19am On Apr 27, 2016
Hello nairalanders

My name is my Adedayo

Am a geography and planning science student (100lv) in a university in Nigeria.
Am getting confuse about the future of this discipline in Nigeria cause its not an hotcake in d labour market.

Even checking through Nairaland carrer forum
There is no post abt geographers or anything related what am seeing is Nurses,Doctors,Engineers and so on.

Recently I saw this thread on nairaland and I find it to be really interesting
https://www.nairaland.com/2913255/how-build-international-career.step-step

But I raise some questions which d OP decide not to answer or probably he is out of coverage

The question are as follow:

1) Is there Any future for geographers in Nigeria labour market?

2) is there anyway a geographer can boost up is certificate before storming the labour market?

3) is there any Internship program for geographers In Nigeria?

4) is there a professional exam for geographers ( that is pocket friendly)

LALASTICAL and Other Please move this to FP

Answer is need from every1.

Thanks

Follow all what was written in the thread you quoted. Especially the part about finishing with a good grade and doing internship in a well structured firm. Infact everything on that page is what you need. For peculiar questions about your course and job prospects, ask your departmental guys in higher levels. There should be some kind of association for professionals in Geography, join it and be active. There you can get more answers. Also use google. You can type 'career prospects geography' and read up results. The bitter truth is, studying geographer doesn't mean you must end up a geographer. There are agric graduates kickin butts in investment banking.

You are asking the right questions at this age. Follow it up with dedicated action and the sky will be a stepping stone to greater heights.

It's probably a non-issue but your writing needs some improvement.
