Governor Umahi rejects calls for revenge attacks on Fulani
herdsmen:

The Governor insists that the Hausa Fulani community in Ebonyi State has a long history of peaceful settlement and have not been implicated in any criminal activity. But those who are nomadic should be allowed to pass to and fro Ebonyi provided they do so peacefully, without causing harm to people or destruction to crops in Ebonyi. Those who are settled in the premises of the university must be quietly and peacefully evicted by the Commissioner of police because the university environment is no place for nomadic herdsmen. The Governor insists that waging a war against the Fulani herdsmen will have grave implications for our commercial nomads which is what the majority of Igbo traders who do business across the length and breadth of this nation essentially are. The Governor held 18 hours of security meetings with the security agencies in Ebonyi yesterday and met with representatives of the Hausa Fulani community yesterday. He was the first South East Governor to publicly condemn the atrocities perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in Ukpabi Nimbo, Uzouwani Local Government Area of Enugu State last week.
