The English Premiership is here and its only fair to have a general platform for discussion.
From the Contenders to the Under-achievers to the Damned. Have your Say, Cuss at your own Risk and Goodluck to You.
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by Grizzly(m): 8:13pm On Aug 14, 2009
Its interesting to know you can only predict d top three this time around. The remaining positions are all up for grabs.
At the lower end, Birmingham and Wolves have both got premiership experience. Its time for stoke and hull to go down.
Its a predictable pattern for clubs to get promoted and do well in the premiership only to go back down the next season

good thread. . . .wld like to see great team play from clubs like Arsenal and also see how bullies like Bolton would cope. . .its gonna be interesting to see if money spent on players can get them desired result within1 yr. . .i think the top 4 will remain. . .

Hull may drop before FEb, the league maybe decided on the last day - MATCH DAY 38

Can't wait!!!! tongue
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by Grizzly(m): 8:31pm On Aug 14, 2009
Arsenal will have problems with the bullies for sure. You cant field players with body weight under 40kg and height average 5ft and expect them to win any area balls.
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by MardiGras: 9:08pm On Aug 14, 2009

Ade scores a beauty for Citeh.

Darren Bent also on target for Sunderland.

Bobby Zamora for Fulham.

Aston Villa 0-2 Wigan Athletic

shocked
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by biina: 5:11pm On Aug 15, 2009
So Villa is already missing barry. Seems Martin Oneil has quite some work to do as his team was quite disappointing against wigan.

Barry and Toure played really well for Citeh, though the 2-0 scoreline was flattering to their defence.

You can say that again.
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by binhozie(m): 9:47am On Aug 16, 2009
I think the EPL will be interesting to watch this season altho i know it still wont measure up to the la liga.
Man City sent out a strong message when they beat Blackburn on their own turf, but arsenal sent out an even stronger message by thrashing the hell out of Everton in their own backyard.
Maybe its still to early to judge them but we are watching keenly.
After Man U and Liverpools match, we'll now analyse the top 4, or is it top 5?
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by mykali(m): 3:30pm On Aug 16, 2009
citeh's midfield/defence wouldnt survive against any BIG4 on-slaught. They've got much to learn.
Are Arsene's diaper boiz tryn to prove a point? They shouldnt raise hopes this high and dash 'em at the end.
Chelsea wont survive long with the diamond.

ManUtd 1 - 0 Birmingham City
(Rooney 34')
All new signings failed to live up today.
ManCITY have some good defenders if you check closely i dont know their problem really. If they can land Lescott they'd be better off

For all i know this transfer has already taken place. Its all about last minute stuff.

There was nothing in liverpools body language to suggest they were pained by the defeat yesterday, or are they already gunning for the champions league? grin

In L1, Leeds (and charlton) are up to a perfect start this season with 3 wins out of 3. I am hoping they get promoted this season and be back on their way to the premiership. I really liked them back in the day under O'leary.
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by Borat1: 11:10pm On Aug 18, 2009
Their undoing could/would be the number of teams in the league. Once you fall into the championship, its difficult to come back talk less of league one. Management issues is another factor.
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by Grizzly(m): 11:56pm On Aug 18, 2009
I dont expect chelsea to vacate that position anytime soon.
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by Phony200(m): 3:42pm On Aug 19, 2009
The Championship is mega tough. It's usually one team that have all the stars aligned and kick butt but the 2-8 positions are usually keenly contesting to the last days. The playoffs too are also very hectic. Hull came through the playoffs and stayed. Not so for flamboyant winners W.Brom who sank straight down. I still don't think Hull is going down or Newcastle is coming back up unless there are some really huge changes in fortunes for them. For me, Burnley, Portsmouth and anyone to go down.
Re: :::The '09/10 Barclaycard English Premiership Thread::: by Borat1: 10:17pm On Aug 19, 2009
Burnley 1 - 0 Man Utd
(R. Blake 19')

(S. Hunt 25') (J. Defoe 10',45',90, Palacious 14', R. Keane 78')

Birmingham 1 - 0 Portsmouth
(J. McFadden 90' [pen] )

The league just got interesting! grin
While the newbies had their say, the 'champions' were left without a clue. Bring it on! grin grin grin
