By Levinus Nwabughiogu ABUJA – President Mohammadu Buhari is handicapped over the increase in the price of premium motor spirit, PMS, Vice President, Yemi Osinabjo has said. Seemingly rising in defence of the president amid the backlash of angry feelings among many Nigerians caused by the all-time drastic increase, Osinabjo said that though the president was opposed to the new price initially, he had no choice than to accept the change. According to him, the decision was necessary if the country must source for foreign exchange to import fuel. In any case, the Vice President said that even if the local refineries were resuscitated, the country would still need to import product as they would only run at 40 percent capacity. Osinbajo spoke Tuesday in Abuja at the public presentation of a book titled “Anatomy of Corruption in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges & Solutions, a collection of essays”, edited by a renowned lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Mr. Yusuf Ali. This is not the first time, the office of the Vice President would be exonerating the president from the hike.

The refineries altogether were producing 40% of the nations total consumption at that time when their average efficiency was about 60%. Now that they have a production capacity of about 40%, they will produce lesser quantity that can be supplied.
The truth remains that those refineries have exceeded their useful life span.

Someone calls in to comment on the burning issue of strike and said "the National Assembly has asked president Buhari to revert back to the 86naira or resign/face impeachment." The anchors then asked the caller what the source of his info is because as at yesterday, reports showed the Senate endorsed the action. The caller then says he "read it on Authority newspaper"!!

That is how the people from that zone are being fed libellous propaganda. What a pity.


One, calling from Orumba North Anambra state (if I heard him rightly) is now bringing Nnamdi Kanu and Dasuki into the mix. Including Chibok girls. Smh.

That's the shiii I hear on a daily. Your brother this, your brother that. I hear them and just laugh out loud. The hate is real.

That's how they gathered in my office this afternoon discussing subsidy. You should hear the insults. When a highly placed official offered reasons why the government made the right decision, they accused him of being an APC member and a Buharist.

To them, there's no greater evil than seeing any good in an APC led government.

Well the people who still reside in that zone are inconsequential....especially given that most of their indigenes have emigrated to better zones... ...their population and land mass is insignificant....they are better ignored...
