Only if he picks Donald Duke as his deputy and ensures he works Duke into becoming president eight years down the line. Let's be honest, Duke is intelligent, visionary, whatever positive you want to put in there but he does not have the political weight to implement any changes he has in mind. Infact very people have the political weight to do please the money hungry politicians in Nigeria. This is where an IBB/Duke ticket will be benficial. IBB has the influential power needed to enforce changes while Duke has the intelligent/vision to think up the path we are to follow.

There is no way Duke is going to be able to bull his way through many political obstacles he is going to face without strong backing. IBB/Duke will give us the perfect power/intelligence needed to transform the nation assuming IBB has an iota of positive intentions for Nigeria. I doubt he can be that wicked, I mean he should be willing not to embezzle more than he already has.

Just my opinion. I just do not feel Duke/Utomi/any of the intelligent guys have the political weight/power to get things done.

My friend you have gotten it all wrong.

Duke would NEVER work with Babangida. Latter has a credibility problem, and a criminal record.

Duke is not tainted, and will never agree to such marriage.

Another bout of 419 endorsement, mass murder, maradonnic govt policies, large scale looting etc.
God forbid!
Pair him with even Christ and I will not vote.
U talk about influence, what influence.
The only influence the likes of Babangida has overseas is that of a looter. Oyibo de make joke of us here everyday.

Talking about political weight, that comes with time and how good you are.
If the people support and benefit from your administration, thats it.
Lets forget about tried and tested but failed leaders.
IBB had his chance and messed up. Lets move on people.
Re: I Will Vote For Babanginda by nuggard(m): 5:34pm On Nov 21, 2006
what galls me is that IBB thinks promising to continue with OBJ's policies gives him stock with Nigerians. We no longer buy rhetoric and besides theres really sooo much OBJ has done.

we rather should have someone with a new look ,not one of those buffon-generals to manage the country until I am ready.
Re: I Will Vote For Babanginda by BigB11(m): 6:00pm On Nov 21, 2006
So far or for now, I have no other choice but to vote for IBB.

FACT:IBB has a-lot to lose this time around. He's under microscope and he can not afford to mess up. He will utilize all his resources and skill to make things right this time.
The system is corrupt, the culture is corrupt; any other leader apart from IBB (new generation leader or old school) will steal, period.

Someone mentioned combining IBB and Duke; that sounds like a bright idea.

With the combination of both parties, I see a stronger nation, I see a brighter future, I see a solid foundation and I see unity.

May God bless Nigeria.
Re: I Will Vote For Babanginda by BigB11(m): 6:10pm On Nov 21, 2006
The only candidate that is heavily under pressure, under microscope, under the eyes of the world is IBB. This cat can not afford to mess up. He's focused, he's respected my majority, he's desperate for success and he definitely has the experience.

I will give him the chance to redeem himself or shoot himself in the foot.
Re: I Will Vote For Babanginda by Jakumo(m): 7:18pm On Nov 21, 2006
Babangida secretly enrolled Nigera as a member of the OIC, the Organization of Islamic Countries, back when he was the country's military dictator in the 1980's, and so in this post-911 world, the US will NEVER allow such a person to assume the presidency of Africa's largest black nation, for fear that Islamic fundamentalist terror networks may gain a foothold there with the tacit blessing of its president.

The upshot is that no matter how much of his stolen wealth Babangida spends to bribe his way back into power, he will be prevented from reaching his goal one way or another, and if that necessitates Babangida being blown to bits by agents acting at the behest of Uncle Sam, so be it. IBB will get nowhere with his presidential ambition, but I for one would gladly line up to collect his cash if the occasion arises before the hammer falls on him and his diabolical machinations.

Why will any normal person want to vote for IBB? ? ? ?

WHY?

His time is past.
He should go on a vacation.
He doesnt care about fellow Nigerians, so why should he lead us.

What is he coming to do? Amend his mistakes undecided
Re: I Will Vote For Babanginda by shango(m): 6:26am On Nov 22, 2006
vote for IBB and America's War on Terror will end up in Nigeria much like the Cold War ended up in alot of African countries.

The last thing we need is another illeterate Hausa Mallam running the country, especially in these times of America's preoccupation with Islamic Fundamentalists.
Re: I Will Vote For Babanginda by joshO: 11:05am On Nov 22, 2006
The most upsetting thing about IBB is is lack of remorse. This is one man that leads us to believe he did nothing wrong in his eight years of autocratic rule. His arrogance and recalcitrance is irritating. Maybe if he'd accepted some wrong, paid his dues, shown some remorse, some (not me though!!) would have been more tolerant of him.

If Duke fails to become president (as I'm begining to conclude he will), then he'll make an extremely good VP. Loyal (unlike the incumbent), dedicated and purposeful. May also be a good time to cut his teeth.

But as for IBB, I would divest my last dime and close the books on Nigeria for at least eight years, should this kleptomaniac become president of Nigeria again!!

ABUJA — THE leadership of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to replace Vice President Atiku Abubakar as he prepares to formally declare on Saturday to run in the 2007 presidential race.

The PDP, according to indications in Abuja yesterday, plans to launch an intensive lobby to get the National Assembly approve a replacement for the VP who is on suspension from the party and is ineligible to pick its nomination form which collection closes in another one week.

Vice President Atiku is still challenging his suspension in court, and his aides say he remains a member of the PDP.

Vanguard gathered that PDP leaders caucus at a meeting in Abuja on Monday to review the recent development in the Presidency resolved that once the VP publicly declares for the presidential race on Saturday, he would no longer be tolerated by the PDP-led Federal Government.

It was learnt that the meeting which had in attendance leaders of the National Assembly, reviewed the implication of the Vice President declaring to contest on the platform of another party while still remaining within the PDP-led government as Vice President.

Source said President Olusegun Obasanjo nominate a replacement to the National Assembly should the Vice President declare to run on the ticket of another party.

Obasanjo on 2007

Meanwhile, President Obasanjo warned, yesterday, that it would be a calamity for Nigeria if the PDP lost the 2007 elections. The President, addressing the 35th National Executive Committee meeting of the PDP, which was called to review the recent congresses/primaries conducted by the party said although all indications pointed to success for the party in 2007, members should be vigilant.-how arrogant, democracy is about the peoples manifesto not the PDP's agenda.
He said: "I have come here to congratulate all PDP members. We don’t appreciate the blessing of God. It is when we count our blessings that we will see what God has done for us. Here we have a party waxing stronger. All those who started with us where are they except one with his caricature?

Yes we know you dont appreciate the blessings of God especially because you think you are a god, as to those who started with you, we have buried them and done 3 days of mourning for them. where the Bleep did you expect.

"Whatever the adversary might say, it is a grudging acceptance of dominance of the PDP in the political horizon. The post mortem about the congress and primaries we are doing is necessary. We are doing what we are supposed to do. Other parties are sleeping.

of course baba, especially since democracy is dead, the post mortem report/result will probalbly end up in your boxers, oops my bad baba, I forgot your boxers are made off khaki, a soldier neva dies.

"Here we are opening our doors. Here we are re-examining our activities and here we are re-positioning our party and they are there sleeping.

what are they expected to do,if they campaign you say they are instigating violence and those of them who dont eat from the national cake are too tired to complain.

"At the end of the day, if we succeed they will be complaining. Anyway, the court is there and I hope it would not take three years this time to adjudicate. I think the new electoral act has taken care of that."

no sir,in Nigeria we have pre-trial judgment where we check if you can survive prison before we do judgment-judgment.
I am surprised you did not know this, after having a vaccation there yourself you only make reforms a year to the end of your 8 year reign of terror-haba retarded general, this guys suffered the same thing you did.ok maybe not atleast you got eggs from ota farm.

The President commended the manner in which the congresses of party have been managed so far, adding that in spite of the complaints in three of the 36 states of the Federation, the congresses were successful.

the few lives that were lost dont change the census figures seeing you contributed alot to the present population.
baba carry rubber oh

"Our adversaries are expecting that our fall-out will fall into their pockets. They are joking. We will manage our fall-out very well that nothing will happen. We are a tested and trusted party. We are a party with track record and as we move on with this exercise (the primaries), if there is anything to complain about, please let us be civil.

baba is your opening statement that funny oh yes I see the humour, your track record really is hilarious.

"The leaders should be fair to all because this is how the process will go on. We must watch out in our celebrations. Enemies within will want to cause disaffection among us. They will say Ali (Party Chairman) is fighting Anenih. There is nothing like that.

I'm glad you noticed, the only thing on network news since 1999 have been your celebrations, and your gigs. boogey boogey baba, uhh, baba you are a bit rusty.

"In human interaction, there must be friction and the solution to that is communication. Anybody that wants to leave the party should leave now because some of them are paid agents, who will not succeed. Some will say they are with us but they are not with us. They are paid to cause confusion. They will not succeed.

no its lubrication-"ghana must go lubri."TM

"The failure of PDP will cause calamity for Nigerians and it is even unthinkable because when you look at the other political parties, what do they have to offer? I hear them that they will continue with what we are doing, that means they have nothing to offer. In 2007, there will be a change of personality but there will be no change of PDP," he said.

exactly, if they continue with your policies they will have nothing to offer. hope the new personality is a bit more handsome cuz you are not exactly Denzel, tho your pa's say you are.

PDP okays ward congresses

Announcing the resolutions of the NEC meeting, the National Secretary of the party, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, said the meeting approved that the ward congress be repeated in Delta, Cross River, Benue and Akwa Ibom.

The NEC also approved the postponement of the return of the forms for Senatorial aspirants to November 27, 2006 as well as the reconstitution of the Board of Trustees of the party to replace those who have joined other parties or died. The NEC also set December 3, 2006 as date for the fund raising dinner for the party.

Yesterday’s NEC meeting was well attended by virtually all the members of the Committee although former Chairman of the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP), Chief Don Etiebet stayed away on the ground that his name was not on the list of those invited for the meeting.

My Saturday declaration on course, says Atiku

Meanwhile, Vice-President Atiku yesterday said his proposed formal declaration on Saturday this week to contest the 2007 elections was still on course.

Receiving a delegation of the Yoruba community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), led by Chief Bolawa Taiwo, the VP asked the group to continue to support democracy and its ideals, adding that nothing makes a country and its people prosper like democracy built on justice and fair-play.

Leader of the delegation, Chief Taiwo, informed the VP that they were at the State House to express their support and to commend him for his various contributions to the growth of democracy in the country.

The group presented a birthday card to Vice-President Atiku on his 60th birthday anniversary which comes up on Saturday.

Obasanjo on leadership

Also yesterday, President Obasanjo spoke of his determination to ensure the emergence of an effective leadership in next year’s elections.

In his Presidential address to Course 15 participants of the National War College in Abuja, he said: "We must face up to the peculiar challenges which our democratic experience presents. The forthcoming general elections present us with an opportunity to ensure the enthronement of a leadership that is focussed, serious minded, people oriented and God fearing. All hands must, therefore, be on the deck to make sure that we have a free, fair, transparent, and credible elections."

Thank you for saying what you have never been. I'll add that to my CV

Represented by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Martin Agwai, the President whose address focussed on Government Economic Reforms as a Factor of Grand Strategy, said: "Our economic and institutional reforms have to be sustained and consolidated, if our national growth, and by direct implication, our national security has to be assured.

"Institutions like the National War College have a critical role to play in this regard through constant interrogation of the issues that define our economy in relation to global trends.

"That is the only way we can entrench the ideals of democratic good governance and ensure the survival and sustenance of our democratic process. Bad leadership breeds corruption, alienates the populace, discourages enterprise and contaminates the soul of the nation. A proper grounding of our political structures and institutions is critical to sustained economic growth and harnessing the element of economic power," he said.

For a Civil engineer turned dictator you aren't doing too badly-putting in all the groundings, entrenchings etc. surprise surprise how many buildings are going to collapse.

Re: I Will Vote For Babanginda by Jaybaba(m): 7:38pm On Nov 22, 2006
Only the ignorant, mentally challenged, uninformed, conscience depraved and wicked fellows can ever vote or support IBB. Infact, anyone who supports IBB now takes over IBB's personality.
Some1 said to me in a cafe on Lagos Island recently, what did IBB really do? He's a 40 year old man and a heated arguement ensued with himself, another guy and I.
Excerpts:

40yr man: Wetin IBB do?
Jaybaba: I'm surprised u don't know
man2: na true qstn b that. Wetin d man do wen many people dey say make God forbid am
to come back?
Jaybaba: IBB do two things wey dey important for Naija history
40yrman: June 12 and wetin again?
man2: Na only June 12 if not, the man try
40 yrman: E try well well o. 4 im time, fuel na N3/ltr of fuel. Garri cheap pass like this, no
fuel scarcity etc, etc.

This argument continued for a long time with both men shouting at the top of their voices b4 finally speaking the truth from their innermost hearts.

40yrman: IBB allow us do wetin we wan do
man2: Chop-I-Chop
40yr man: IBB no get time for wetin we dey do 4 cafe like OBJ wey use EFCC dey pursue
us up and down.

It took the attention of the cafe mgt to tell the men (customers) to let their engr (me) do his work. But the argument continued after I was thru.

If the truth must be told, majority of Nigerians are deeply IGNORANT and are happy and unconcerned about it. The few others who are not ignorant are highly INDIFFERENT. The attitude "so far I see food chop, wake up baf, go where I wan go, I'm ok."

That is not contentment. It is indifference for you to pay taxes of any form and not be represented. It is ignorance for Nigerians not to know their history or to have lost their sense of history. This is the main weakness IBB and his cohorts are planning to exploit. It may work.

But as for me, I desire change, yes positive change for the better. I want my children to have hope not necessarily from my own savings for them but in my society's security of their life and prosperity.

The man to bring the desire change in Nigeria is Chris Okotie and another is Utomi Pat. Aside these any PDP person is not even an option. For starters OBJ feels PDP is the bedrock of Nigeria. Nigeria's founding fathers founded this country on the principles of freedom, peace, progress, justice and unity of her peoples but what we have today is far from that.

IBB is not a Nigerian in our interest. Be wise o Nigerians. Be informed. Read. Get informed, let us progress.
