all this sauce listed are kinda more expensive to prepare than the regular tomato sauce/stew, that's why most eatery or catering services charge exclusive price for them.

Nice one op, but see this
WHAT IS THIS LIFE?
A man is born today, Tomorrow he is dead.
A man lives in a mansion today, Tomorrow he lives underground.
A man drives a car today, Tomorrow an ambulance drives him.
A man reads biology today, Tomorrow a biography is been read of him.
A man eats whatever he wants today, Tomorrow he becomes food for insects.
A man is always early for work today, Tomorrow he is termed late Mr/Mrs.
A man is seen resting in his house today, Tomorrow he is resting in d grave. And they say "Rest In Peace"!
A man eats all kinds of fruits in his house today, Tomorrow he becomes manure to those trees.
A man is known today as the richest man ever, Tomorrow he doesn't even know where or what will happen to his riches.
What is life after all?

What is it with all this useless threads, the least that your country can do for you is to be able to afford ordinary fvcking tomatoes to cook stew, that is not asking for too much. But trust Nigerians with their suffering and smiling will now start to be creating silly threads like alternatives to fvcking tomatoes. When are you ever going to have the backbone to stand up for once, your useless government cannot provide the most basic things for you, now you can't even freaking eat and you are joyfully creating silly threads about alternatives to tomatoes? What a people.

I don't think anything can substitute tomatoes, it has been for ages. Even tin tomatoes can't compare with fresh tomatoes.

Groundnut stew should be added to that list.

It's a life saver grin

I think with the rise of diabetes, heart disease & hypertension, we should be very careful with very fatty stuff like groundnut or banga.
A lot of our food are too rich & fatty already.

Tomato sauce is an easy way of eating veg.

Villagers & hard working farmer ancestors expend/expended much energy. But youths sitting in shops or air conditioned offices expend little.

Much of our rich meat & carbohydrate loaded foods were ideal for hard workers.

Emphasis should be on vegetable & legumes in cooking now. Little fat if at all.

Much of our vegetable can be cooked with little or no fat.

Okro & ugu leaves mix or black soup are great.

Palm oil as replacement ?....you want me to laugh. Do you know that the anti-oxidising properties of tomatoes is one of the few things standing between you and the certain deadly downside of palm oil. My friend, food is not just about taste and energy. Don't toy with your health. There is NO substitute for tomatoes in the food industry. Go and grow some at home. It is not too difficult.

For heaven sake where have you ever seen Miyan Kuka been used to eat rice? The soup draws Mr. OP. I hope you won't tell me, that the fact that Miyan kuka is used to eat Tuwon Shinkafa (Semo like food that was cooked with rice) as justification. If you do, then I could also some that Kuli kuli can be use to eat Eba since it use to drink Garri. You for even put Egusi instead of Miyan Kuka, because I have eaten rice several time with Egusi.

So I just made stew using tatase, sombo. I took out all the seeds, 6bulbs of onions, 1 sachet roll of tomato paste and 2small, very small plates of tomatoes. Its so red and tastes awesome. It filled the pot I normally use for stew.
Which of the tatase did u you use, fresh or dry?
