5 Short Effective Guides To Starting Great Businesses by femtop2(m): 10:26am On Aug 21, 2009
1. Come up with Business Ideas
The type of ideas that you generate largely depends on you as an individual. You see great ideas originate from the mind. “Sound” your mind and you will have a sound mind. What are the things that you love to do, your hobby? It could even be a skill that you learnt or your course of study in the school. You will have to think deeply. When you come up with your own ideas, it is authentic and it comes with a passion that will drive you to accomplish.

It is important to note that in coming up with ideas. Let your mind and brain to work without restrain. Just think of possibilities only for now. The idea is to get as many ideas as possible. Please scribble your thought (ideas) on paper and this will readily lead us to the next step.

2. Translate Your Ideas to Business opportunity

A business opportunity may simply be defined as an attractive investment idea or proposition that have the possibility of a return for the person taking the risk. I hope you can spot the difference between this point and no 1. An idea is just what it is: an idea. An opportunity has been evaluated and considered to be able to bring return on investment.

3 Access Your Market

Market as a business term in not just “Kasuwa”; don’t mind mean, since I reside in the North that is the word for Market. Strictly speaking a market will refer to any platform or location where an exchange for your product and service can take place. So how large is the market for your proposed business? This is important as this will help in your product delivery. A market search will also let you know who your competitors are.

Produce What Your Customers Want

4 It is important that your produce or render the service what your customers want. That will determine whether you can smile to the bank  or whether the product will rotten on your shelve.  Note; it is not what the customer needs that will make you rich but when you package what they want. If you don’t know how to determine what your customer want. Keep a date with me. I will post what you need to do in the nearest future.

5 Package a Quality Product and Push it to the Market.
The next thing to do is to package quality product that will meet the specification of your customers. Packaging  in itself can make a whole lot of difference in your business.

The guides I provided are not exhaustive in themselves but will surely help you in starting up.
More to come

Nice post.

In addition; Don't start a business simply because you like the idea e.g starting a restaurant because you are a good cook, setting up a boutique because you love clothes, starting a hospital because you are a Medical Doctor e.t.c

Start a business (Goods or Services) that solves a problem or meet a need.

You could be a Lawyer by Profession but decide to set-up a Hospital (with a Licensed Doctor as a dormant Partner) or an Architect setting up an Accounting Firm (with a Chartered Accountant as a dormant Partner) because there is a need for it in your target Market.

Cheers.
