REAL democracy is ideal for Africa.

Botswana practices real democracy and we can see how it has prospered quickly.

Nigeria has NEVER held a free nor fair elections, and we see why its a cesspit.

Nigerian politicians know they need the man in Aso rock and not the people to secure any office.

Quite thoughtful but do you think "real democracy" is real? I think it is utopian.

The problem clearly is which yardstick to be used to divide the nation into federation units..... Is it along religious line or tribal affiliation?

Really complicated I think.....
A blend of tribal and regional lines should be more viable .

Creating federating units and regions is a no no and a waste of time. Even ghana with her ten regions created since independence is not doing fine. Just dismantle all the states and local governments.

Allow federating units to form by themselves and two or more federating units can cooperate in a regional setting. Just allow the federating units a d regions to form natuarally. Then let everyone agree what we need at the center and how things should be run nationally.

We have 774 local governments and less than 300 ethnic groups. Having these ethnic groups as the federating units is better than these useless local governments.

As forAwolowo, ask them in Cocoa House. OBJ built the National Theatre. OBJ introduced E_Government, brought in GSM, Smart Cell phones and other electronic devices that go along with excellent global communication. OBJ is a Majestic Manager of Managers and people and one that compares favorable with Churchill, Eisenhower, Montgomery etc. OBJ is an excellent Soldier, a Nationalist, a Patriot and a Gentleman.. I am still living to see which Nigerian Military dead or alive will match OBJs achievements. OBJ is the first Nigerian and indeed the first African to be elected President of the World Forum of Ex Presidents. OBJ is awesome and lovely in Power. I pray to live and watch him become the General Overseer of the Sanctuary of God of Nigeria soon. He is destined to unite Islam, Christians and other Religions together under the Sanctuary of God of Nigeria.

Does it suffice to say that religious beliefs won't dismantle tribal and regional affiliations?

It would not!

The South West is an example. A proper federation is always divided along religious or ethnic lines or cultural or regional.... just whatever is the characteristics of the heterogeneous factor comprising the federation.

You are right about the southwest but what about other regions? Remember that the North most importantly has had its fair share of religious conflicts
