When I was six, I watch Superman 2 and almost immediately I started idolizing the man of steel. I dreamt of the day I would go to metropolis, America and see the hero. I even wanted to be him. I held on to my belief till I was 15. One day, an uncle of mine sat me down and questioned why I believed so much in the fictional character. He felt the time spent indulging in my fantasy could be utilized into something productive. We had several arguments BT he could never convince me. it was until he pointed out to me DAT Christopher Reeve, who played superman was also the protagonist in the movie Somewhere in time. I started making research and realized the truth was in front of me all along, I just couldn't see it.The average Christian is no different. I do not consider any theist a fool cos the hardest thing to take away from people is their believe. BT I would follow in the footsteps of my uncle and try to open the eyes of as many as possible. I believe other atheist should also do the same rather than resulting to verbal abuse.

Well said. The time spent in church, if channeled to other productive things would make Nigeria great. Themoney spent in building churches if used in building other things like better hospitals, science centres, museum, library etc would make Nigeria great. Religion has robed us of our time and money and replaced it with a false hope.

Said Jesus.

"I am the way, the truth and the life" Said Johnydon.

What's the difference between the two claims.

-The former is long dead the latter is still very much alive and actually wrote it himself

What kind of daft comment is this Isn't it the government's job to channel resources to build those Should organisations now do the government's job ? Or did you see the government building religious centres or closing them ?

the lesson christians are trying to teach athests is sincerity.
just be sincere to yourself thats all.
there is a stage you don't know, at that point be sincere to say you don't know and don't argue as if you know.
people believe God exist based on their personal experiences and they say it, even when they do not see God.
You are saying why should you say God exist when you have not seen him?
that is simply because you have not yet experience what they have experienced.
Now, whether they experienced anything or not is all subjected to perception.
until you have the experience too, you cannot say categorically whether they are right or wrong.
Your position is to remain sincere to say i don't know whether what they are saying is true or false

The brain is a very terrible thing to waste.

I believe the brain is an ever active organ but people can easily lack the motivation to use it effectively.

So while some people are thinking of how to better the world the likes of Ebuka are encouraging Nigerians to wait on spirits or sky Dad.

Everyday, Nigerians spend time importing intelligently made gadgets. We are the first to buy good cars, phones and computers. All that are made without the consultation of the holy spirit . Jesus the son of God came on earth and spent time talking to 5000 people by shouting and cracking his voice without thinking it necessary to miraculously conjour up the micro or mega phone so as to effectively reach out to more people.
But God had to wait for scientist to come up with these gadgets thousands of years later and now he is forming actor that he gave them the inspiration.

But what do we have here in Nigeria? People who claim they have access to the creator yet they get no inspiration to come up with unimaginable but helpful gadgets. Everyday, thousands gather in churches for crusade, selfishly calling on God to make their life better but what we see is a dwindling country with nothing to show for it. Pastors unknowingly encouraging our youths to depend on faith and sky daddy and while we wait on God, we are becoming dependant on those who use their brain.

The brain must always be busy... hence the likes of Ebuka now knows more about spirits than even a physical neighbour next door. He speaks with the creator, knows the devil's whereabouts, knows which spirit is which, know where spirits live (that's a busy brain, wasting, thinking rubbish) yet nothing to show for it. He is a computer scientist but thinks spirituality should be more emphasised more than a course he spent 5/4 years studying, what a waste.

But what can we do but to talk and criticise. Sometimes u just have to give it to them. In a country where people suffer and hardly make ends meet, the thought of a helpful sky daddy is the only thing that can make u feel special.

Sometimes I wish I can just remain silent and watch people wallow in the stupidity of religion, but the fact is that foolishness is had to bare.

I really have no hope in Nigeria, I can only do my best, hopefully, in the nearest future, people will come out of their delusion and stop enriching the pockets of these so called men of God and think of ways to directly better their lives and that of those around them.

Amen.

To be Honest, I forsee no change in the stance of people and the skyfairy in Africa.

People NEED to believe a higher justice, a way for all their sorrows to pay up. Mention anything else and...........you get a general emotional battle.

For the Average Nigerian man, there HAS to be a god; they cannot just be suffering for nothing....sadcrycry

What a shame.

A few days ago, some colleagues were watching a video of a man without hands driving with his legs, rather than give credit to the man, they simply said God is great.
