Please, we should value and respect our kids. They mean alot to us and deserve to be treated and nutured with care. Not to be given such hefty loads at such a tender age.

#Childcare.

Empty plastic containers and weightless stuff?

The child looks well taken care of( she's wearing a slippers, hair done neatly) and well fed, Imo. Not child abuse, probably helping her mom.

We won't send our children on errands again? Shiorr

I don't know if i am the only one seeing this, but this girl is not a child. Her body is too stiff, she has a big head and her legs and arms are definitely not of a child. Take a good look at her arms, they are longer than that of a child.

She is a dwarf, probably in her late teens or early twenties.

Id rather she carry empty containers for her mum and living at home than being a house help in one wicked woman's house where she will be exposed to all sorts.

Funny enough, my mind is beginning to be swayed on this argument. I think it is an abused system but in Nigeria, there is a place for fostering children (and yes they will work fewer hours and only be limited to basic housework). It may not be ideal but this is the reality I living in Nigeria: that is the best way to actually raise some people's economic standing. And I would rather there be community laws in place governing the practise and enforced by local sharia and customary courts than outright abolishment and a huge section of the population remain poor and destitute. Laws to regulate it and the system (age of child, background checks of employer, written agreements on expectations from both parties). That was how it was done in the past and several wealthy people started their lives like that (Tinubu and Alhaja, so many women who are millionaires in the gold and lace business etc).

I know someone's maid who has eaten at restaurant most NLers cannot afford to go (Four Points family breakfast etc). You knew she was a maid the way she was dressed but she was treated okay (girl developed an appetite for scrambled eggs. Village geh o! grin) but still kept stealing petty stuff like food she had never tasted and lying like crap so they sent her away. Her mum is now trying to collect the madam's number to call and beg them to take her back (when she saw her daughter they said she screamed in shock for how fresh and plump the teenager looked). I think it depends on the employer and the situation. One of uncle's houseboys (no relation to him) is now working at GTB head office and he was trained from his teen years till adulthood there and his kids call his former employer Grandpa and Grandma. He would have had zero opportunities had he stayed with his parents in the village.

That looks like she's carrying her mother's handbag and stuff. Might be helping the mom take stuff home while she runs to the market to get stuff for dinner. Those things look big but I bet they aren't heavy and she's probably not going a long distance.

Lol I dont think she's a dwarf, she lacks the face structure, arm structure, and leg structures of a dwarf and she's definitely not thick. She doesn't have a disproportional body compared to dwarfs that have disproportion body parts e.g disproportionately short limbs.

I would rather say she's a short one, in her teens. A midget better put.

Hmmmn
Had to check the pictures again especially the second one. The face "strong" but with the current economy position of the load covering half her face, it's hard to tell for sure.
