Abuja - Operatives of the Department of State Security have arrested and detained the owner of Public Alerts Security Systems, George Uboh, who reportedly attempted to blackmail the Federal Government into awarding him a multi-billion job to recover over N1.9 trillion hidden away in some banks in the country.
Uboh, according to findings was arrested on Tuesday after stern-looking operatives had raided his office and homes in Maitama in Abuja in search of sensitive documents relating to the short-lived recovery contract job he was handed by the Federal Government.
The Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, gave Uboh the job of recovering the huge sum of money, after he had convinced the AGF that he had already sighted and tracked down the money in 13 banks.
Strangely, Mr. Uboh reportedly expanded his brief shortly after getting a Federal Government letter of authority by going ahead to harass all banks in Nigeria and prominent Nigerian leaders and industry players to turn in their secret bank details to him.
On realising that Uboh had violated the terms of his brief, the AGF summarily terminated the contract, saying that the job was given to Uboh in error. The withdrawal, according to Malami followed new information that Uboh had been jailed by a court in the United States and recently in Abuja for fraud-related issues.
The AGF also wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari detailing the reasons why he cancelled Uboh’s recovery job, which would have fetched him at least 5 percent of the recovered amount.
But Uboh has not taken the termination of the job lightly, accusing the AGF of standing on the way of fighting corruption.
Before his arrest last Tuesday, he had appeared on a prime time television programme and poured invectives on the Federal Government for ending the job offer abruptly while still claiming to be fighting corruption.
It was learnt that the DSS would likely charge him to court for sundry criminal offences relating to the expansion of his brief to extort money from Nigerians.
He had boasted that he had already traced N324 billion within the 27 days that he was allowed to work but mocked the AFG for not allowing him to go after the affected banks and individuals to recover the amount.

Dr. George Uboh has been held for 2 days without, water, food or lawyer and no access to any of his family members. He has been taken back to the DSS custody.

Who gave them this info if there has been no access to him?

Next thing is to say he has died in custody...then be ressurected in a few days

If the issue of George Uboh is not handled well by the FG, I'd lose every ounce of respect for them.

First and foremost, the caption by Sahara reporters is libellous. George Uboh was charged for credit card fraud in the USA (which was a petty crime and didn't deserve more than a few months of jail time) but he was somehow robed in for Heroine possession and trafficking and it was for that purpose that he served the 9 years.

While in Jail he began to read literature connected to the Law and was able to challenge the USA govt for his wrongful imprisonment for Heroine possession. If one was to google his name against Reno who headed the case, you would see that George won the case and had his sentense upturned even though he would later be deported to Nigeria.

George started a money laundering and scam detection agency and has worked at different times for the NPF, EFCC, Bayelsa state govt until he was recently appointed by the AGF in February of this year.

I have no doubt that should his case be mishandled, President Buhari's corruption war will be treated as a scam by not just me, but by every other well-meaning Nigerian across the world.

George was instrumental to the downfall of Lamorde when he exposed all the atrocities that were committed by the EFCC under his reign including not remitting 1 trillion Naira of recovered loot back to the FG.

George most recently, came on air to expose the scam being perpetuated by the AGF who has been conniving with banks to prevent them from returning all the hidden dollars within their coffers to TSA. George said in his first month working for the AGF he was able to recover close to 1B USD and was therefore surprised to see that the amount announced as recovered fell way below his own personal recovery.

George insisted that he could prove that banks within Nigeria were housing close to 70B USD including Keystone Bank ( a relatively small bank having 542M USD within its own coffers). George challenged the Channels News men to ask any public authority to disprove the authenticity of his evidence to which he would dole out 10k USD to each of them should they succeed.

He said on LiveTV how that Access bank were calling him over the phone to urge him to calm down under the supervision of the AGF. When George refused their advances, and even wrote 3 letters to the AGF, the President and the VP, he was summarily fired by the AGF who then claimed to have been oblivious of George's checkered past.

What makes this assertion laughably ridiculous is that during his campaign to expose the EFCC the news about his jail time in the USA was being announced daily even to the point of creating a DVD to smear his image. I wonder how the AGF can then claim at this point that he didn't know about it, considering that he courted George since Nov of 2015 before giving him that job in February of 2016.

George is being witch-hunted for exposing the 2-faced conniving bastard that the AGF is and if President Buhari refuses to take the right actions concerning this issue, it will ultimately cause his downfall and the downfall of the APC.

For those insisting that George did all this for money. They should be made aware that during the heat of his expose on EFCC, he showed a contract he signed with the EFCC to the tune of 1.5B Naira to help recover stolen funds from govt figures. You can check the YouTube videos of Obiora and Mamode of the O&M show on AIT to verify this story.

The 2 men saw the contract and confirmed it to teeming Nigerians who watched that episode on that particular day last year.

The real question is, if George was all about his money wouldn't he have simply shut-up and played to the gallery that the AGF and the other thieving banks wanted him to play to?

Would he have insisted that FG recovered more money than they are announcing?

Would he have exposed the NNPC numerous fraudulent accounts totalling over 300 each with millions of dollars?

Would he have written letters to the FG even from the time of President Yar Adua and GEJ reporting crimes in their govt?

Again, I repeat, if PMB does not take the apposite steps, this singular act of human rights violation will be the end of his govt.
