So long he accepts you to be his wife... then go to his family .. if he truly loves you.. he'd marry you irrespective of anything

But wait oooooo... Madam why don't you want kids?

That's gonna be a real problem for you because NO Nigerian parent will wanna have a daughter in-law who doesn't want kids.. every Nigerian parent want to see their grandchildren

I was feeling her and was about to dive in and support her with words of advice and then I read " I don't want kids". And I gave up grin

It would be a miracle if her parents-in-law don't go crazy over that decision of hers.
Well, not my business but I'm never getting married to a girl who doesn't want kids, no matter how much I may love her.

My kids are my pride man.

Really

He has two sisters and a brother, I'm sure they'll have grandchildren from their other kids!
It doesn't matter..

An average Nigerian parent wants grandchildren from every single child... if any child fails to have kids .. in African culture it is considered a taboo... It is inadvertently interpreted as Barrenness ..

I Don tell you my own..

Re: . by torqque7(m): 10:42pm On Jun 15, 2016
Are you a learner? U better just start packing your things..as long as you don't want kids then dont even bother going close to a Nigerian man...sorry for you.

In our culture kids are a MUST hun,no kids then ready to be kicked to the curb. angry
Re: . by Nobody: 10:47pm On Jun 15, 2016
You're young so opinions are still in the formation stage: you may just find yourself dumping your "no kids" philosophy in the near future - unless there's a piece of info you're witholding. For the most part, just be yourself.

He knows that I don't want kids. When we talked about it, he was the one to bring it up. I'm 27, and have not wanted kids my whole life, no plans to change. If he changes his mind later & would just DIE if he didn't have children, I'd consider having up to 2 kids, but key word: consider. My mom has been on me to have kids too, but I don't think anyone can make the decision for me, and certainly not if they aren't also volunteering to help... I can't imagine having kids just because someone (besides my husband) thought I should.

You never ready.. lol

His parents are likely not to accept the idea of no kids and once that happens I fear for the future of the relationship. We're generally not known to go against our parent's decision when it comes to choosing a partner.

Also, you don't cook? This doesn't sound well too for a Nigerian, we love our women to be traditional and exceptional in the kitchen. You two seem to be of a clashing background and upbringing. How long have you been dating him?
Re: . by schumastic(m): 11:15pm On Jun 15, 2016
Belaqua:

She also said that his parents might not be happy with the fact that I don't know any of their traditions/culture (although I'm absolutely willing to learn + be respectful of them), and that his parents might be upset that I have no interest in being a traditional homemaker. I don't want kids, prefer not to cook (although I can cook, and do enjoy it when I decide to throw down in the kitchen), etc. The guy I'm dating knows the way that I am, and hasn't had any issues with it, but his parents might.

So, any ideas what i can expect? Anything I should be prepared for? I really, really adore this guy!!

Thank you in advance smiley

are you sure is a Naija man that wants to marry you with the this options of not planning to have kids and cooking as well, even though u know how to cook..cus my naija men won't agree to such o except he is deceiving u.. as for the parents is a conplete NO( Mbanu, Ero ni, Babu) they can only agree if u change the option of kids plus if u v good qualities of a daughter inlaw, they will accept u.

forget it sweetheart... the parents aside, no real Nigerian man will sit well with this "no kids" philosophy... and my naija men love food, they live to eat so I'll say this relationship is dead on arrival
