1Tim 5:8 (ESV)
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Does the bible make it mandatory for every person to take care of his or her relatives, even those relatives that are simply irresponsible by choice? Or should a person be responsible for the consequences that result from the choices he or she makes?

By this I mean a father who wastes whatever he has on women and alcohol instead of his family or a woman who chooses to prostitute and live from one man's house to another instead of taking care of the string of kids she gives birth to from these unfruitful relationships?

The bible is talking about those with a legitimate need esp the elderly ones who cant fend for themselves. not those who mess up there live deliberately. to those, you are not under obligation.
