Just to be clear, LIRS and not FIRS. Except of course if she operates a Limited Liability Company.

She made profit from her legal entity business of blogging, not so?
Since she bought the mansion with the profits of her blogging business, she must show that she paid taxes on it BEFORE spending the remaining amount, right?
Is there any part of the explanation that you don't understand?

Am not saying that she is not liable to pay tax. Am talking of the relevant body to deal with the issue as what we may be dealing with here are Withholding Taxes (WHT). FIRS deals with Limited Liabilities (Ltd.,Plc, Banks, Multinationals ) - Corporate Entities while LIRS handles individuals and that's where Linda falls into especially if she purchased the house from an individual which is most likely but if she purchased the house from a Corporate body, that's when FIRS can ask for the WHT.
I hope I've made myself clearer.

Bros....Na u get sense pass...i don dey read shitty comments wey fit make person mad until i reach your comment. God bless you fala fala.

The ex baryen munich president (Uli Hoeness) even got jailed for tax evasion. Mascherano got tried too. A lot of celebs overseas got tried for tax evasion.

One thing i noticed is when it comes to Linda Ikeji....any form of accusation be it false or true is equivalent to beefing her success! If Linda Ikeji kills today and she's arrested some people with flat head will still scream " they r beefing her success and they are working hard to bring her down"....some of them with pawpaw shaped head from the east who usually think with their balls and anus will shout..."witch hunting".

With this type of OT, Nigeria will never progress.

With your last sentence bro, u killed it. may the good lord blesses u yanfu yanfu, we need to move forward in this country.

Some months ago, I heard a story from an anonymous source (whose hands were not clean either), that the Banana Island mansion was not Linda Ikeji's, but belonged to someone connected to the last government (someone with links to the former president). That Linda sometimes fronts for people who need to hide a lot of money by claiming she's moving millions with her very public blogging business. That a lot of billionaires in Nigeria are actually a front for illegal stolen government money (this is a well-work method of hiding stolen funds and money-laundering in Nigeria). I only partially believed that story then because I knew the blog made good money but not N600million on a house money. Come to Ikoyi and hang out a bit, so you soon realise who can move that kind of money (not on social media where almost everyone is flaunting fake lifestyle, check it out yourself). I know she does well sponsorship adverts for some millions and sadly I also know she made good money blackmailing people (people used to pay her to take stories about them down and now other bloggers are trying to copy her).

But if she's denying ownership of the house, maybe FIRS went after her as a start to chasing the real owner of the house.

Blogging pays well my sister. A 'wannabie' popular female blogger on Nairaland (I'm trying to remember the name now) made about N1m in few days through Google Ads.

I'll search for that thread.

However, I believe some politicians have corny ways of covering and hiding their deals.

In a sane society, everybody realises that it is his/her obligation to pay tax. In my educated opinion as an accountant and a tax practitioner, she should be paying way above N75m. I cant readily tell the basis by which they arrived at 75m.
Pls dont mind other Igbos that only see everything as a battle against igbos.

The N75M is a fine and not her final tax bill.

Linda Ikeji they are so desperate to bring you and your blog down, just like that SS senator.
You and other Igbos and other SS tribes will learn the hard way not to ever invest in Lagos again.

However do you think that the guys in FIRS are dumb and dunces?
Would they not have checked the paper trail of her tax payments to Lagos IRS?
Anyway, I hope that she is made to pay and the tax people move on to our other yeyebrities and the political office holders. They all should pay TAXES properly and appropriately, don't you agree?

Pride always goes before a fall #justsaying . Let others talk about your success not the other way round. I dig her blog but she's recently become sort of a materialistic narcissist. BTW there is a thin line between motivating young girls and bragging. I think Linda crossed that line. I pray she drops all that childish BS and focus on expanding her media empire.

Definitely there should be collaborations between LIRS & FIRS and with fall in oil prices the chances of LINDA being let off is very small.

Anyway, the tax tribunal is there to handle tax disputes should they arise.

Do you know if the tax tribunal can send defaulters like Linda to PRISON?
I hope so because that is a very effective, less noisy way to fight CORRUPTION successfully in a systematic manner.

This shows how smart is Wizkid. He bought a house, stage himself as a tenant, he even get media hype when the landlord threatens to evict him.

Linda, she bought a house, someone valued it at 500m but she said it's more then we could only think of 750m.

Who do you think the FIRS will hunt?

Linda, just go pay the 75m, I know say na small change.

The tax laws are well behind times as they need to be reviewed as the penalties spelt out there are laughable. However, what the TAT (Tax Appeal Tribunal) does is to either uphold assessments, ask for the assessments to be amended or discharge assessments depending on the evidences before the tribunal

Here you are supposed to pay 10% of N800,000 as WHT to either FIRS or LIRS, then give N720,000 to your landlord. That is aside your PAYE

So your tax worth is well above 50k
