More Than 20 BRT Buses Damaged By Sellers At Maryland

I just witnessed this right now!
A street haeket was killed after being knocked down by a BRT bus and this led to more than 20 BRT buses being damaged by other hawkers and hoodlums.

Lagos ambulance was swift to arrive the scene but no sign of any security agency right now.

I got a small video but it isn't too clear because I had to run for my own life.

One, brt has its Lane,
Two, what is a hawker doing hawking in the direct path of a bus?
Three, govt may decide to ban hawking, who loss
Four, govt doesn't use brt, it's the poor masses that do. Destroy or burn it, who go loss?

Touting is just as illegal as Hawking.

The fact that we have not been enforcing these laws does not make the practice legal.

From time to time, the relevant agencies tasked with the responsibility of checking the activities of these people do go around from time to time and arrest, confiscate and destroy their sheds and wares and they return the very next day.

Thats what at some point, the government considered making patronizing these hawkers a crime.

Why did the so called KAI officials ran away when the accident happened .

Whenever The Lagos State Task Force burst on the road hawkers...one will pity them. But at the long run..it's for their safety.. also if them no hawk how them go eat...This is just a tangled situation.. I don't even know who to support

The KAI official ran away for fear of reprisal attacks from the people on the streets..


But here are the facts;

1. Hawking is illegal. Its been banned and communicated to people via radios, television and news paper adverts.

2. The hawker was committing a crime for which the KAI officer had every right to apprehend him.

3. The Hawker died whilst trying to evade arrest and prosecution.



What is this ideal society thing you are on about? The KAI official chasing after Hawkers is all in an effort towards achieving that ideal society that you people go abroad and see and come back to use to mock us here.

You either want an Ideal society or you choose anarchy.
