hi! I'm into poetry writing myself and its something i want to make money from, i honestly don't believe in the saying that poets make money when they are dead, what's wrong with now?
Anyway, while I'm still a novice at the entire game of making money form poetry,i still have a bit of knowledge that may help, there are poetry competitions that you can send some of your poems to, the more competitions you send your poems to,the more chances you have of showing your work, winning can boost your confidence, basically, these competitions always have publishers scouting them and it gives you an opportunity to showcase your talent, the bridportpeotry competition is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world with a prize of five thousand pounds.you can go on line to www.poetrykit.com and get a listing of present poetry competitions going on presently.Ask yourself, how far am i willing to go to achieve my dreams of being published? take a bold step and do what it takes to be heard and seen, good luck!

One good way is to contact authors that write on related areas your poems are based on and see if they would be interested in using your poem/s in their works. They will pay you a commensurate royalty as the books are sold.

I assume that is what one Debbie Anaga or somebody like that did as her poem (Titled: Lagos) was used as the heading for one of the chapters in the American novel "Feddie Girl." I think it was chapter 2 or 3, the chapter that had to do with Lagos, Nigeria.

Another way is to enter contests as someone previously mentioned.

However, all these are long shots.
