I had what's probably the greatest shock of my professional life last week when a young lady called me for a pest control service at Wuse 2 in Abuja. Curious about this possibility, I did some investigation and discovered that the snake must have randomly crept in though the central sewage system in the Federal Capital Territory.On further inquiry, I found out that this is not as unusual as I thought as another professional colleague told me that he had had similar job with a client who had a snake come into his home via the toilet.

I decided to search further and to my consternation discovered that this is a threat faced by people living in big cities with central sewage system. Pests such such rats, frogs, snakes and even squirrels have been known to come into homes through the toilet pipe. There was a case of a New Yorker finding a snake in a 19th floor apartment and another of an Israeli man that was bitten on the penis by a snake when he sat on the toilet seat. This is one reason why you must always look before you seat, especially, if you live in a city with central sewers.
