There was this advert in the London times years back by Sir. Ernest Shackleton regarding his expedition to the south pole. It read: "wanted: persons for dangerous journey, return doubtful, honor and recognition if successful".
This wonderful advert came centuries after Jesus had sent out the seventy-two. He originally picked twelve, but twelve would not do it all, also he went ahead to appoint seventy-two others whom he sent on mission. He in truth told them of daunting task and the tremendous opposition that they will surely encounter. He did not promise them any glorious mission and the leader of the expedition to the south pole actually used the template of Christ for his would be followers too. He reminded them that they will lead the radical lifestyle of a wandering preacher who will face homelessness and renounciatation of family and property and that whatever they entered, they must not choose what to eat, but eat what is set before them.
Initially, twelve began, seventy-two others came. Now, it is the work of all Christians to become labourers predicting truthfully the words of God and acting it out accordingly without fear or favour. For us all to triumph above all the wolves and material inconveniences that will frustrate us, in becoming disciples according to the mind of Christ, we must trust in God for divine providence, we must fear nothing and nobody, we must never lose courage and must always be messengers of peace and love.
