Nigerians are such hypocrites! Aii lemme dial it down a bit. Some Nigerians are bloody hypocrites. I guess I should start from the beginning.

So I woke up this morning and proceeded to perform the morning ritual which is; check my phone for WhatsApp messages (it’s a bad habit BTW). Well in the process of checking messages, there was something “trending” amongst my friends. They had the American flag as their DP. One of the Jane Doe’s even went further to write as her display message ‘Happy independence America! I’m proud to associate’ and I was like what the hell! Mind you this chic is one hundred percent Nigerian.

It got me thinking. One of Nigeria’s problems may be that we do not appreciate her enough. On October 1st every year, this same Nigerians are always quick to social medias with posts like ‘Nigeria at 56? What’s there to celebrate?’ and I wonder if liberty isn’t enough to celebrate.

I understand that over the years we have come to be shackled by other types of slavery viz corruption, and unbefitting infrastructures but then again when you celebrate your birthday you don’t have it all figured out, do you?

While I am not saying that celebrating With our American brothers is a bad thing, you don't castigate your home and celebrate someone else's. Another irksome thing about it is that some of these baes do not even have a single American on their contact and other than Barrack Obama and Hollywood, they know nothing about America.

Let's leave America for a minute and go to exhibit two. Yesterday someone made a post about a new Nollywood movie "night with a star" being too explicit and deserving a ban. And this same Nigerian watches games of thrones and Spartacus! Someone might misquote me and say this dude is implying that raunchiness should be promoted. Well this dude isn't saying that. All he is saying is that 'hypocrisy is corruption too' and it should not in any way be encouraged either.

So all those fuss about Nollywood importing pornography into Nigeria is full-done arrant nonsense. The true pornography has always been amongst us; in our lustful minds, our raunchy desires and of course our smart phones! Nollywood only prefer you buy theirs either.

Don't get mad at me please....
