EFCC To Re-arraign Nyako And His Son, Abdul-Aziz by Stanlel(m): 12:55am On Jul 08, 2016
The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, has re-assigned the trial of a former Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, and son, Abdul-Aziz, on charges of money laundering to another judge of the Abuja Division of the court, Justice Okon Abang.
This development followed the death of the former trial judge, Justice Evoh Chukwu, early last month.
Lawyers, who are involved in the case, confirmed the re-assignment of the case to Justice Abang in separate interviews with our correspondent on Thursday.
The case was initially scheduled to commence afresh by a way of re-arraignment before Justice Abang on Thursday, but the court could not sit due to the extension of the Eid-el-Fitri holiday announced by the Federal Government on Tuesday.
Though no date of the re-arraignment has been officially announced, it is suspected that it will take place on Friday (today).
It was learnt that the prosecution, led by Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), had called six witnesses before Justice Chukwu’s sudden death.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had initially, on August 7, 2015, arraigned Nyako, along with his son, Abdul-Aziz, and Zulkifikk Abba, Abubakar Aliyu as well as five firms.
They were arraigned on 37 counts of money laundering, involving alleged diversion of N29,099,430,879.92 belonging to the Adamawa State Government.
The firms arraigned along with Nyako and his son were Blue Opal Limited, Sebore Farms and Extension Limited, Pagoda Fortunes Limited, Tower Assets Management Limited and Crust Energy Limited.
Abdul-Aziz is the senator representing Adamawa Central in the National Assembly.
All the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the 37 counts when they were initially arraigned.
In the counts 1 to 13 of the charge, FHC/ABJ/CR/293/15, filed on July 7, 2015, against Nyako and others, the EFCC alleged that between September 26, 2011, and May 31, 2012, the accused persons converted the total sum of N1.845bn, which allegedly was alleged to be proceeds of theft of funds belonging to the Adamawa State Government.

Was that not how All ProgreTHIEF Criminals, APC people accused Jonathan when Nyako was being tried earlier

PhockPhockMan:
Former Lagos State governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday said the federal government is planning to try former governor of Adamawa State Murtala Nyako, after forcefully removing him, on a treasonable felony that might see Nyako being imprisoned for life.
The Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he said, were behind the impeachment of Nyako. In a statement made available to journalists in Lagos, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said President Goodluck Jonathan’s ambition of gluing himself to power could destroy the nation’s democracy. Tinubu said the government harassed the governor through the media, noting: “This kangaroo impeachment is government’s way of punishing Nyako. The plan is to use the content of the letter he wrote to the northern governors as a basis to try him for treasonable felony and eventually sentence him to life imprisonment.
“Nyako’s frank, if rough-edged, letters concerning the security situation apparently infuriated the monarch of Aso Villa who has become so arrogant as to believe no opposition against him is justified; thus he has the liberty to impose his brand of injustice to crush those who oppose him. Before our eyes and under Jonathan’s watch, Nigeria is gradually descending to fascism. We must all act now before it consumes us all,” he said.He pointed out that Nyako’s impeachment is an aberration of Nigeria’s constitution and a setback to the nation’s democracy: “Under the constitution, a governor can only be impeached for ‘gross misconduct’.
For the PDP, Nyako’s crime was not the false allegations contained in the articles of impeachment.“Perhaps, Governor Nyako’s greatest sin is his temerity to speak truth to power albeit in a courageous way. On two different occasions, he gave an unvarnished insight into the Boko Haram menace and the insecurity engulfing northern Nigeria.“At the Institute of Peace in Washington, DC, this year, when he visited with other northern governors, he placed the blame for the Boko Haran insurgency on the Jonathan presidency.“He then followed this up with a detailed letter to the forum of the Northern governors in which he accused the Jonathan-led government of genocide against the north. This rattled and unsettled the government.“In impeaching Governor Nyako, the PDP used the constitution to abuse the constitution and the democracy it is supposed to enshrine. Governor Nyako’s impeachment must be seen completely as a political move to punish him and deter others from leaving the PDP.”He argued that, if there were really cases of misconduct, the House of Assembly wouldn’t have waited till he left the PDP.“Upon leaving the PDP, his actions suddenly became the meat for impeachment. There is only one thing new which was not then present. The governor’s political party affiliation changed. In the PDP’s mind, his party change transmitted him from the list of those to be praised to the list of those to be persecuted.“He and the PDP contrived the removal of Governor Nyako from office. This is a temporary and costlyvictory for it reveals more and more the undemocratic heart of the man who rules over the nation.“He now justifies his illegal and immoral acts by claiming that any show of dissent or opposition to him is the product of partisanship and thus not to be seriously considered.“This is what all dictators tell themselves and he has become one. As such, he believes he can turn his back on the will and welfare of the people in order to attain his personal ambitions. Yet, while he may ignore the people, even he cannot make them disappear nor can he keep them for seeing him for what he is.“If he truly believes the false acclaim of his coterie and party dregs are genuine, let him stop these contrived attacks against opposition politicians. If he believes so much in himself, let the people decide things at the polls.”He added that impeaching duly elected opposition politicians will not increase the president’s and the ruling party’s popularity.Attempts to get reactions from Dr. Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity were not possible as both a text message and email sent to him went unanswered. Calls and texts sent to both Olisa Metu, National Publicity secretary of the PDP and Dr Doyin Okupe, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs were also not responded to.

Below is the memo that Tinubu referred to in my earlier post.

Governor Nyako accuses Jonathan administration of genocide against Northern Nigeria
April 19, 2014

“The Administration has also hired militia from all across especially North Africa who have been deceived into accepting to come because they were made to believe that they would be fighting infidels.”
Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has accused the Federal Government of carrying out genocide against the people of Northern Nigeria.
The governor made the accusation in a memo titled “On-Going Full-Fledged Genocide in Northern Nigeria” which he sent to the northern states governors’ forum on April 16.
“While every State Government is doing everything possible using virtually all its resources to stem the tide of near disaster facing all of us especially in the North, it is a well-known fact that the present Federal administration has now become a government of impunity run by an evil-minded leadership for the advancement of corruption that is apparently enjoying the protection of the Federal administration,” Mr. Nyako said.
He said the government is using “mass murderers/cut-throats imbedded in our legitimate and traditional Defence and Security organizations” to carry out the genocide claims.
Mr. Nyako said the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is determined to create strife between Muslims and Christians in the north or between one ethnic group and another.
He accused the Federal Government of organizing the killing of citizens and then quickly attributing same to the Boko Haram sect.
“Cases of mass murders by its bloody minded killers and cut-throats are well known, but it attributes the killings to so-called Boko-Haram,” he said.
He also said militias backed by the government are responsible for the rampant kidnappings in the north. Over a hundred school girls were abducted from their Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State on Monday night.
Mr. Nyako said “these organized kidnappers must have the backing of the Federal administration for them to move about freely with abducted children just as those who convey ammunitions and explosives from the Ports to the safe-houses of so called Boko-Haram in the North”.

If it were Obanikoro's sons, we would have hearing all sort of noise-witch hunt, vendetta, opposition silencing. I hope the pro-CORRUPTION youths here are aware that the Nyako is an APC member, and the tried son is currently representing ADAMAWA in the national assembly.

I just hope both the ZOMBIES and WAILERS are learning the fact that most politicians they are supporting care less about them. Obanikoro and Nyako stole for themselves and their families and not for you and me.

His trial started during GEJ's time. He was impeached at that time & he fled, he was declared wanted & only came back immediately after Buhari's swearing in and his first point of call was Aso Rock. That's my state & I keep tab of all info on Nyako.
