But what part of the bible exactly is for our own good? All I see the bible doing is creating hatred, strife and people who are unreasonably judgemental. A loving father drowning and yet threatening to torment his loved children with eternal fire. That sounds more like a psychopathic criminal. A wise person won't take any advice from anyone who tortures and drowns his own children. The parts of the bible that sound like they teach good morals are just a no brainer. You don't need to be told that killing is wrong nor that stealing is wrong. Just ask urself why the state does not incorporate fornication as a crime in the law. Some books are meant for recreation, some for advice, some on health and hygiene, Some for self help... etc. Just like a multi-tool box..... When you become a Parent... and you see your child taking hard drugs... if you do nothing and look away... and you child later becomes "wasted", your child will blame you for not warning him about the dangers of indulging in hard drugs.

But if you warn your child and say... my child, don't take hard drugs... if you do... it is going to ruin your brain, relations with people, work and future.... Your child may listen to you after seeing how erratic and disorganized people who abuse drugs behave.

God works in similar way..... There are many activities and forces working above our heads that we cannot see. .. we might feel them, but we cant see them.

Your bible claims that god is omniscient yet he regretted why he created man.
