JesusWillSaveME:Nay. on the contrary we should be more concerned about the way our professionally trained armed forces react in response to citizens' actions. A pro boxer or martial artist is expected to avoid street fights even though agitated else the licence could be suspended or withdrawn. Ever considered why mob violence on criminals exist? It is because people no longer trust the actions of the police in handling such cases when handed over. Ever considered if the same military that could kill men, women and children in a civilian populace in Zaria and did same to Odi what would have happened when they attacked Biafra way back. Our military is yet to come to terms with the value of human lives or even what the concept of human right means. I believe the rules of engagement should be reingrained into the soldiers and even the least infractions be severely punished instead of the slap on the wrists connected officers keep getting else it would all be for nought. Now back to your earlier post in response to neocortex's JesusWillSaveME: You mentioned the video showing the COAS begging for passage when the road blockers were aggressively making a complaint of an infraction against them done the previous day but the army claimed the COAS was almost attacked which was conveniently not in the video (remember media crew from two TV houses were on that trip) neither was the clippage of when the army started its assault. The army just ended being accuser, prosecutor and judge. A much similar incident happened several years ago when I saw students block a road and 'actually set fire under the armoured vehicle' of the cops set to manage the peace of their protest. Even at threat of their lives the policemen handled the situation professionally and dispersed the students by dispersing tear gas which set the students on a run. Now compare both incidents. True those people would probably be alive today if they had not blocked the army oga but rather we should be concerned of the army that has that mindset of that massacre operating anywhere else within our borders also doing so outside our borders leading to accusations of war crimes among others. We need to do something about the army's orientation and fast. Wishing you well dear - Teemy |
