The chief of defence staff , General Gabriel Olanisakin, has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian military to control the activities of militants vandalizing oil facilities in the Niger Delta.

General Olanisakin stated this when the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru paid him a courtesy call at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja. He called on NNPC to provide a special platform for the military to carry out it's duty of safe guiding oil facilities around the country.

Earlier, The Group Managing Director, Dr Maikanti Baru explained that the organization seeks further collaboration of the Nigerian military in protecting their oil and gas facilities, especially in the Niger Delta which has been under attack by the militants.

He also pointed out that some of the damages caused by the activities of the militancy have affected the economy , lives and properties and promised to support the Nigeria military in whatever way necessary to stop menace.
