Former EFCC chairman, Nuhu Ribadu sneaked into Nigeria to visit the family of late human rights lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

His controversial visit has become a security nightmare as the federal authorities in Nigeria continues to investigate his manner of entry and exit. Saharareporters obtained exclusive photos of the visi to Gani Fawehinmi's family in Lagos.

The inspector general of the Nigerian police, Ogbonaya Onovo earlier today, at a press conference, denied that Ribadu visited Gani's house. He challenged anyone with photographs of the visit to show it to the public.

But checking the clock on the wall show some minutes to 9 or 9 on the dot (AM OR PM). I assume its 9am as the day is still bright to be 9pm for the first picture. Again is it not too bright to be be 6.45pm assuming he took the pictures immediately they arrived which is unlikely.
Am not saying he did not come to Nigeria but something smells from the two publications.

No better way to put it.Onovo is just another PDP 'tool' like Akunyili, Iwu, Anenih, et al . Once again, Nigeria gains another biased servant of the ruling Party in a very important office that should ordinarily be occupied only by impartial men and women of incorruptible integrity.

We now know not to expect Onovo to be different to the three before him i.e Okiri, Ehindero and Balogun. Come 2011 , working in tandem with Akunyili and Iwu as Okiro did in Ekiti, Onovo will use the NPF to rig the PDP in everywhere . What a shame .

However, while reacting to the claim of the IGP that Mallam Ribadu did not visit the country, Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, told the Nigerian Tribune that the IG was being economical with the truth, emphasising that he accompanied Ribadu when he visited the residence of Gani and the hospital.

He advised Onovo to check with the Area Command, Area F of the Lagos Police Command, to be properly briefed on the visit of the former EFCC boss to the places.


“I am sure that the IG was not properly briefed. I accompanied Ribadu to the residence of Gani. I was physically present, when he held a meeting with the family for about 25 minutes.


“I also accompanied him, when he went to the hospital where he spent about 15 minutes to pay his last respect to Gani. “The IG can confirm from Commander of Area F, which is the next building to the Ikeja General Hospital. Ribadu’s presence even caused commotion at the hospital,” Falana asserted.


According to him, the security agencies made frantic moves to fish Ribadu out, as soon they got wind of his sudden presence in the country. This, he stated, they did by combing the nooks and crannies of the country, even his home state, Adamawa, without locating him.


Falana added, “As soon as the government got to know that he was in the country, all security agencies were mobilised to look for him in a small village, in Yola, Adamawa State.”

Mr Presido, what exactly is your point, tell us what the "smell" smells like. Put forward an hypothesis, like the photos were fake, or those are not gani's family, falana, and ribadu, bit look alikes. You can even hypothesis that the meeting was real but took place in another country and at another date, but put forward an argument.

To the best of my knowledge Femi Falana is not a liar.  I cannot believe that all Lawyers are liars either as that would mean I would have to regard Gani Fawehinmi as a liar and I would also have to accept the popular belief that all Nigerians are scammers and drug dealers. Femi Falana ,anytime and anyday,  has more credibility than the commanding ranks of the Nigerian Police force as a man who is on the side of the Nigerian people.
