The brother of a friend of mine got married like 8 years ago. The family started very happily, the man was a successful journalist and his wife was a lecturer at the state university. They have had only one issue, a girl. Along the line, the man was sacked from his place of work and the wife became the bread winner of the family until recently when he delved into blogging and became very successful.

As earlier as I can remember, this guy has been complaining that his wife has been playing the feminism card with him even before he lost his job. He cite things the wife telling him that the two of them should schedule when to cook, clean the house, attend to the baby, wash clothes while him alone took care of the entire financial needs of the family. He said that when he lost his job, it was worse; he became the wife of the household while his wife took over as the boss.

A few months ago, this couple divorced. They went to court to settle child custody. The wife’s initial argument was that the she should have custody of the child because she was the mother and in a better position to take care of the girl and that the man should be paying child support. The man’s argument is that he is a better custodian than his wife since he works from home, can effectively take care of the needs of their daughter, has developed a relationship with their daughter, has no intention of marrying any time soon and is a better cook than the wife.

According to the man, his lawyer told him he’s already won the case but that the issue of the wife paying him child support was not realistic.
This is the man’s question... If he’s supposed to pay child support given that the woman wins the case, why shouldn't the woman pay child support given that he wins the case?? Why is not realistic but realistic that the woman and the man share the same responsibility and command the same respect in a household??

I believe this is the question that tramples down feminism, guys what do you think??

The believe of the society and some religion is that the man should take full responsibility of his home.The wife is seen as a supporter and an helper.I am ashamed of your brother for asking his wife to pay for child support,That's not wise of him ke.

They won't agree to pay child support, that's another way to know a pseudo-feminist.

Manimony, its not realistic in Nigeria but outside the country, yeah he could win the case. Is it that wives lose respect for husband when they lose financial status , scared of marriage mehn
