If not say I suffered similar burnt while trying to pry open a pot of steaming rice on fire which had cling film over it, I for say you de lie buh then it could have been worst. You were dealing with a pressure cooker whose pressure is akin to that of a car tire. I'm sure you've seen a car tyre burst before ....imagine you had your face close to the tyre bursting.

Next time ensure you run cold water over the pressure cooker lid and the red button goes down before attempting to open it cooling it first helps reduce the heat and pressure inside it.

Pressure Cookers should come with a bin caveat on the side of them. I knew about the dangers of pressure cooker when I was little and out family friends househelp got badly burnt by one. I remember my mum packing all her pressure cookers and storing them away and never using them for a very long time.

The OP is very lucky, It could have been a whole lot worse.

The whole pressure had escaped as none was oozing outa the vent tube again, the stiffness was because of the too much starch from the OFADA rice. Not like I force opened it without taking proper measures

i have a scar on my leg till date just because i stood beside a pressure cooker as a kid when the cover was about to be opened. the steam burnt my leg and the burn mark is still there.

my mum also packed away all her pressure cookers and refused to use them for yearsssssssssssss. the versions made these days are much better. there is no way you can open the pot until the presssure within has subsided. so this poster is extremely foolish to have forced the pot open. i can just imagine all the energy he put into forcing the pot open.

he is scarred for life. the burn mark will remain on his face.

next time, stay clear of pressure cookers and never force one open. i know 100% how these cookers work. the hunger in you could'nt wait for the pressure to subside, hence why you forced it open. it has nothing to do with starch. i cook all sorts with a pressure cooker including cow leg, shaki, etc.

anyway, what are you applying on your face to minimise the scarring? honey? coconut oil?
