Please is this a good idea to charge your powerbank on your laptop?

I had an argument with a friend that it will spoil the laptop battery, but he took it as if am pushing him away from using my laptop to charge is powerbank.

There is nothing wrong in using a laptop to charge a powerbank. As a matter of fact the only thing wrong with that is that it would take a really long time for the powerbank to be completely charged (depending on the battery size), in fact most laptops might not even be able to completely charge an 8,000mah powerbank. Laptop that cannot even charge ordinary ipad.

I think it depends on ur power bank some power bank can charge with a laptop and nothing will happen I have a power bank which doesn't spoil laptops batteries

No, not also good to charge your phones too with your laptop especially while it's on sleep cos it has a long-term negative effect on the laptop battery life.

My brother and I always have this argument too but I don't seem to understand his view...I see it as :if it is safe to charge my phone with a laptop (battery to battery) , then what makes it wrong to charge my power bank with a laptop (battery to battery too)? Please illuminate me, am willing to learn with full conviction

What negative effect are u talking about? u are only transferring current from ur laptop battery to ur phone or powerbank (at a very slow pace compared to using a wall charger). The same current that ur laptop uses to power its screen and carry out tasks. Whether u use it to charge ur phone or power its screen, play games, browse the internet or microsoft office, etc.. current is used, ur laptop battery will eventually die and u will need to recharge.

Nah, i wouldn't do that.
