It is very hard to see a full blooded Nigerian who doesn't eat garri in one way or the other. If am to describe garri in one word, i will say "Lifesaver". Garri make up a daily meal to some 150 million people world wide. It is a popular West African food. It could be compared to what potato flour is to the Westerners. It is even more versatile than that. It can be eaten as a snack in cold water on a very hot day, or cooked in hot water to make a dough-like meal called eba.
Garri is made from cassava, a starchy plant that is harvested as tubers and then ground and roasted for preservation to become garri. It is normally packaged in porous bags and sold either in those bags or cups at the open markets across Nigeria.
