Teachers Protest Over Unpaid Salaries in Bayelsa State
The streets of Bayelsa State got more than vehicles and pedestrians as secondary school teachers took over major roads to press home their demands before marching to the state secretariat in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital in south-south Nigeria.

They claimed that while other workers in the state have received half month payment three times, they have not received anything.

The teachers also rejected government’s proposition to give them half pay for the month of August on Thursday, insisting that the government must pay them as the other workers.

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) in Bayelsa State, Mr Oyiemi Ebiredeni, said that members of the union had been battling to survive, as a result of unpaid salaries.

The representative of the government, Commissioner of Education, Mr Markson Fefegha after addressing the protesters, told reporters that the executives of ASUSS and the state government had different understanding of the outcome of the closed door meeting they held some days ago.

Despite the minimal workforce and 13% derivation......

I don't expect Bayelsa to owe any workers.....

Niger Delta Avengers need to Blow-up more pipelines. Its like you guys think the Federal government will share what it does not have? By the time allocation gets to NGN6,000,000/month, Then we would know who`s sabotaging the country. This is just the beginning! In 3 months time....The status quo would have become worse if people dont rethink

Bayelsa is one of the most useless state I have ever seen..

A governor owing workers since Dec , the on ly state university being shut down and yet, the bill for the establishment of University of Africa in dickson's home town has been accepted and approved by NUC.. he has already deceived the public by saying it's a Public-Private partnership, but we know where the money is coming from...

He doesn't even give a hoot about the plight of bayelsans, since he has already concluded they are lazy.

How Bayelsa is unable to pay salary still baffles me,even without any infrastructural development....
*sigh
Then I think Aregbesola deserves a big clap for finding a way to pay workers of over 25LGs without stopping infrastructural projects and Bayelsa can't even handle 7LGs without any tangible project in 5yrs...

Anytime I read any incredible news about owing salaries in Bayelsa, I always thank God that the aspirant who contested under the platform of APC didn't win.

This is how he could have been struggling with payment of salaries and PDP Zombies could have started blaming him for the financial recklessness which he neither cause nor know anything about.

Bayelsa one of the smallest states in Nigeria with huge allocations, the state of Ineffectual Buffon owing workers more than 8 months salaries: where is Ben Bruce constructive criticism when it is highly needed?

Worse still, anybody in his right sense would wonder whether the common sense of that a liquidated albino has gone on sabbatical leave anytime issues happening in his state/constituency is being discussed because he and his mentally deranged followers could have started having orgasm on this news assuming it is all about Osun State.

U will see them filled with extreme happiness when it comes to pipelines bombing; they won't even bother to reflect on the consequencies of this unscrupulous act.

One thing is sure - when a bird perches a rope, the rope will not experience comfort while the bird itself will never experience peace.

My heartfelt sympathy goes to the righteous ones partaking in the Consequencies of this devilish act.

PDP led government don distribute their entitlement to fellow politicians through Dasuki.
But why is it that Bayelsa with just 8 local government will be collecting huge amount of money as allocation and still unable to pay salary

Mehn, that's just what baffles me..

While I was there, I asked my friend who's mum is being owed since Dec and she's the bread winner what actions her mum and the cooperatives she belongs to have taken, she couldn't give any concrete answer..

They just believe since Alams is their godfather, dickson wouldn't touch them cz there were rumours that once they are paid, they would be laid off....

but where is the payment since Dec na?

and when election comes, they will all foo.lishly vote for dickson..
