My country people, I need advice on the best possible way to get Finland visa.
I have followed this forum for a year now and I think the time is right to make my move to Finland.

REASONS:

Its been my childhood desires to get married to a white lady and grow my family there.

I love Sweden, Norway and Denmark, but I really love Finland.

Apart from schooling what other best way can I make it to Finland because I instead tried to save up for my trip. I have saved up over 1.5M Naira for this reason. No ask me to invest, na my heart's desires I dey try satisfy.

I'm 28years old and na only O'Level they carry me waka so.

Please, 'if you have a contribution please share, I get the money, but I no need agent work.'

Thank you guys a lot.

I just did a small research on their embassy website.
On the website it stated they need people like me to apply for a resident permit, meaning I must get a job there aforetime.
But am keeping my fingers crossed for suggestions from the house.

Thanks for you time and advice.

Now let's be sincere,

How do you expect to get a job with your O'level which is not even recognized in the first place?

Finland and all the Nordic countries you mentioned would not give you a visa for unskilled labour. The best way you can migrate is as a highly qualified migrant or through Study. So for your case, You have to go through study. That way you have a certificate that makes you suitable to get good jobs in the coming years.

Finland aint that easy as the internet portray...all the three countries you mentioned are better than Finland in terms of jobs, especially Sweden.
Jobs in finland is one sided, its only available in 2 to 3 cities(southern Finland)..a lot of immigrants mostly arab and somalia are there so even the unskilled jobs which are for foreigners are very competitive now.
Life there is fu.cki.ng expensive even more than Germany and Sweden.
Apartments are like 1k to 1200euro per month...lucky if you find like 800 euro...self con like 500 euro monthly, bus monthly ticket 100+ euro.
And besides its rare to find an immigrant especially from Africa even with masters to get a skilled job.. except for some lucky ones ofcourse.
The mainly good thing about Finland is the free education and you will enjoy many discounts as a student there though the country is still far better than many european countries and ofcourse second paradise to Nigreria in terms of standard of living.
We shouldn't talk about the social life there because its not important to hustler but its nothing to write about.
Forget what you read on internet.

Thanks foryour prompt response guys, I really appreciate it.

Schooling in Finland will no longer be free for students from Outside the EU and it's 28 member Nations by January next year. I really thought about schooling before I changed my mind, plus tuition fees there is running in multiple millions of Naira, and I've only got N1.5M available for this purpose.

Speaking of the U.S, I really like the place, everybody loves the U.S and the UK, but I prefer a place that is relatively calm and small. Will revert to the U.S if all avenue to the Scandinavian have been exhausted with no luck, there should always be a plan B.

Somebody talked about Sweden being better than Finland in many regards, I would like you to throw more lights on that, thank you.

Thanks everyone for your prompt response.

Bro, m a mechanic, I've got a skill, you see people think because we do not have a higher degree then we are unskilled, but that's a big mistake on its own.
I have spent years building capacity by engaging in self developmental programs.
How do you think I made the N1.5M, it is through had work.
Thanks for you response and suggestions, they are very helpful and timely.

Go to Germany. Tuition is free there. Check out this link: www.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programs/en/
Also, painstakingly read the German student visa thread: https://www.nairaland.com/3052025/general-german-visa-enquiries-part

Just to give you a summary of Germany, it is not that difficult to stay once you finish school there (particularly if you are willing to learn the language well and/or if you study any science-related courses). So as I mentioned earlier tuition is free there BUT you need to show the embassy that you have enough money for living expenses for your first year.

This amount is about 8700 Euros. Do keep in mind that you will need to transfer that amount to a "blocked" account in Germany once your visa is being processed. You can get a part-time job during your first year and you may be able to cover all your living expenses from said earnings (assuming you don't go to a super expensive city or a rural town with zero jobs).

Also, if you do decide on Germany make sure you apply to the schools early because visa appointment dates can be hard to get if your admission comes late.

A final reason why you should consider Germany is because all the Scandinavian countries you mention are somewhat similar to Germany. Scandinavians are (historically) Germanic peoples so their way of life is not too far off from Germany, however imho Germany is a much better option because it is a much larger country, more diverse with plenty immigrants, has lots of jobs in finance & manufacturing & software & automotive, etc.

Keep in mind though that options for getting a BSc in English are few, most BSc programs (though not all) are taught in German. MSc programs however are a different story, many of the programs are taught in English.

Start doing lots of googling to read more about getting an education in Germany. In the worst case, you can start off in Germany and later move to Scandinavia! After all, Rome was not built in a day.

Also, look up the Goethe Institute in Lagos, you can start learning German there! Sometimes people from the German embassy host seminars there for prospective students that plan to go to Germany.

Best of luck, my friend!

True, you are skilled. But the thing is developed countries most likely won't recognize your skill directly because they have different certifications for mechanics in those countries and you don't have those certifications. I agree that this seems a bit unfair but this is how each country regulates and maintains quality for certain professions.

BUT if you find yourself in any developed country, given your mechanic skillset it probably won't be too hard for you to study and work on upgrading your mechanic certification(s) to the one(s) recognized in whichever country you end up in.

Maybe you could consider studying automotive engineering BSc in Germany (or any other country)? Your past experience as a mechanic (combined with formal training) would equip you in the future to be even better than your (future) automotive engineer peers in Germany (or wherever).

Thanks thesoj, timely is your response. I have seen the link about studying in Germany before, I really liked it, but was told be a Nigerian student in frankfurt that SSCE can't get me an admission in Germany, that I needed at least a Diploma.

If i can get Admission with the SSCE they am game, do you think an SSCE holder can gain Admission to a University in Germany?

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it.

You indeed need something similar to A-levels or one year of university in Nigeria or something like that in order to be admitted to most (all? not sure) BSc programs in Germany. Several people on the German student visa thread suggest taking one year's worth of courses at NOUN (National Open University of Nigeria) as an alternative way to do this.

Another alternative is to go to Germany to do Studienkolleg for two semesters, and then go to university from there. If you consider doing this, keep in mind that you'll need to be at a B1 proficiency in the German language.

Op since you are a mechanic, that's very good,I will advise Germany, when you get there look for automotive schools where you are tested on your skills and certified. With this my brother you are set for the good life, the thing is to concentrate on one field, you will thank me later.mechanics earn quite well in Germany

@Ollins Thanks for your comments, as stated earlier, SSCE I have noticed is not good enough to give me the desired link to Germany, so m thinking of running a one year DIPLOMA or NCE program here before trying to apply.
I'm grateful.

Hey brother what's so captivating to you about Finland.. Finland is good but the 3 other Nordic countries you mentioned are more prosperous than Finland.

Sweden should be ur best bet because of it's comparative relax immigration policy and strong economy.

The best way to emigrate to any of those countries is through Studies. Only Norway doesn't charge tuition fee as of now amongst the lot; but your 1.5 million won't get you to Norway and I am not sure if your waec qualifies you for undergraduate entry to Norway.

Scandinavia is a very organized and small society. Living as an illegal in any Nordic country is akin to being thrown into kirikiri prison. You can do almost nothing without a social security number.

I saw your quote late. And I am thankful by what people have told you by what I mean with highly qualified migrant. It's not about the skill, it's about getting your skill recognized.

If you would switch to Germany, you will need to double your money.

I don't know. I would recommend you apply to a course that is similar to what you might want to study when you ultimately get to Germany. For example assuming you want to study mechanical engineering in Germany, you could apply to mechanical engineering or electrical engineering or physics or mathematics, etc. First year classes for these sort of courses are often very similar.

Being an artisan is a huge boost for the OP if he intend to jet out of the country in a legit way,but i will advise the OP to use the student visa if possible as it will be easier than the visiting visa of a thing,as this is the method my dad apprentice who happen to be an auto mechanic used some years back to get into the UK,thereafter find his way and luckily for him,he's now working as an auto engineer in one of the UK companies without no hitches,it's being 10years or so as am still an apprentice under him then.
I will also urge the OP to try USA as well.

He can not work on a visiting visa.

If he overstays he will have broken his visa conditions and will receive a long ban.
