EYITAYO JEGEDE, I WARNED YOU BEFORE TODAY............. YOUR RAIN OF SHAME WILL SOON FALL EYITAYO JEGEDE: A BAD CHOICE. ELECTION IS ABOUT THE STATE AND ITS PEOPLE. NOT ABOUT MIMIKO; A FAILED INDIVIDUAL. In my candid opinion here, I maintained that Eyitayo Jegede is a bad choice for Ondo state. Their's no doubting the fact that Eyitayo Jegede has intimidating credentials. A lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the immediate past Chief Law Officer of our beloved state. However, Eyitayo was imposed on us in 2009 by Governor Olusegun Mimiko and for the convenience of Olusegun Mimiko. Eyitayo Jegede was never cleared or vetted by Ondo State National Assembly or the good people of Ondo State themselves. So, his coming to the stage was Mimiko's calculation as the game plan is currently unfolding before our very eyes. The key question is: does it take ONLY an enviable credentials to be qualified for the Office of State Governor? In my strong opinion, the answer is capital NO. One of the key reason that we have failed at all levels of government as a people is largely due to the fact that we Nigerians particularly, we the people of Ondo State, don't ask the right questions. Besides, we don't do our own findings before we draw conclusions. It was the same mistake we made in 2007. We should have learn lessons. We often get carried away with paper qualifications, crafted speeches, unnecessary sympathy and whatever we hear from any corner. We must desist from these uncultured ways of thinking , if we are genuinely concerned about our lives, our future, those of our children, the generation unborn and if we must find a holistic lasting solutions to the problem of leadership in Ondo State and in Nigeria as a whole. Let dig into the issues of Eyitayo Jegede. .. What social development projects has Eyitayo Jegede initiated and actually implemented not just in Ondo Central but, across the entire Ondo State in the last seven and half years? To be more concise; How many lives has he affected or empowered in Ore, Odigbo, Okeigbo, Olowo, Akoko, Okitipupa, Aye, Idanre, Araromi Obu, Ile-Oluji, Ondo town, Owena, Apoi, Gbeguren, Ugbo etc? Has he ever advised Mimiko on the needs assessment to address the electricity problem that engulfed the entire Ondo South Senatorial District for almost 4 years? How many times, has Eyitayo Jegede as the Chief Law Officer of our beloved state written an open letter to the affected areas through their representatives at the State or Federal levels or actually went on air to let them know that he shared their pains in those trying times. Under the watch of Eyitayo Jegede as the Chief Law Officer of our state, innocent Ondo indigene protesters in Ore town while in the midst of preparation to protest lack of electricity that has crippled their businesses for over four years, they depend on electricity for their essential daily bread, and they intended to democratically air their pains through public protest. Instead they were arrested from their homes, inside their rooms, humiliated, beaten without mercy, and were subsequently arrested. These commoners were still inside their room. What an injustice and gross human rights violation under the watch of a SAN? What did Eyitayo Jegede know about Ore town? Has he ever visited Ore? Has he ever advised Mimiko on the need to build better roads in Ore/Odigbo given its strategic location and as a strategy for wooing investors? Did he ever honestly call Mimiko on the need to invest on capital projects that are opportunistic to creating new jobs, and simultaneously become added revenues for Ondo State? What is Eyitayo Jegede's ideas about Olokola, Oluwa Glass, Bitumen in Agbabu, Araromi Rubber Estate? How many times has he discussed them in the past? What are his conversations with Mimiko on these capital projects that were neglected in the last seven and a half years? What are his impacts on the need to pay our ever hard-working civil servants who still have up to 5 months unpaid salaries with Mimiko? We should bear our minds that, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, collected our state Federal Allocations, NDDC Allocations and other internally generated revenues including all royalties during former President Goodluck Jonathan when the prices of crude oil quadrupled in world market. He absolutely, have no reason not to pay state employees up to date. But, he refused to pay these poor workers whose salaries are not enough to support themselves and families in the first place. Eyitayo Jegede, the Chief Law Officer of Ondo State kept mute as a Mimiko continue to unleash this suffering, poverty and hardship on innocent people. No single comments from him so far. To me, it is a sign that he doesn't care about the people. My beloved people of Ondo State, these are fundamental questions that should bother us as a people. They are the reasons that I maintained that Eyitayo Jegede is a bad choice. They are the reasons why we should never allow Mimiko to impose him on us Eyitayo Jegede in my candid opinion is only coming to fulfill to two purposes. First, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, knows the gravity and the consequences of the financial crimes and criminality he committed against Ondo State and its people. So, purposely hand picked Jegede, as a legal practitioner who could cover-up his financial misdeeds and his impunity after leaving office in 2016. He decided to pick Jegede who is never a politician but the same central senatorial district with him. Lastly, dig deeper, you will discover that all the candidates that Governor Olusegun Mimiko sponsored to represent our dear State, within the State and Federal Levels, failed in their constitutional responsibilities to their various constituencies. None of them initiated any youth or other community based program to develop or to alleviate poverty and suffering that has ravaged their respective constituencies. It has been all about themselves, their families and their political godfather - Mimiko. My people of Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede is coming as cover for Mimiko embezzlement, inflated contracts and his reckless government activities. The worst is, when they complete their tenures, they are trying to fulfill a recycle culture of their likes (failed politicians) into new offices using Eyitayo Jegede's influence as the state Governor. My people social smartness is the key – we must be all-out smart to decide who we want as our Governor. We must put an end to this satanic calculations. We must rebuke them. We must say no to their activities! Ondo State, we are the sun shine and we deserve better. Our SUN must continue to shine. Trust me we can and we'll succeed if we come together.
