Enugu Herdsmen Attack: Residents Reject Peace Moves by Fight2Finish: 10:43pm On Aug 26, 2016 |
Residents of Attakwu, in Enugu West Senatorial Zone, Friday, expressed outrage over the attack on them by Fulani herdsmen. This is as they have maintained that they would no longer allow herdsmen to remain in the community. DAILY POST reports that it was a day of rage on Friday as they attempted to lynch their traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Highness, Igwe Greg Ugwu. The youths, who consistently booed the monarch, blamed him for the invasion of the community by Fulani herdsmen. It was the same case for the chairman of Ndiagu Attakwu union, Mr. Ndubuisi Ogbodo, as the youths nearly descended on him after he failed to make strong worded statement over the attack. Ogbodo had while speaking, showered encomiums on Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as well as security agencies. The situation did not go down well with the residents. It took the intervention of member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West constituency, Hon. Chukwuemeka Ujam to save the situation. This is as the residents insisted that this was not a time for “message of peace”, but a time to issue the herdsmen quit notice. The residents, while accusing the monarch of having unholy alliance with the herdsmen maintained that they were no longer ready to accept them back into the community. “They must go; no space for them; enough is enough; allow us to defend ourselves”, they shouted repeatedly. Earlier while addressing the angry residents, Ujam appealed to the federal government and the security agencies to protect members of his constituency from further attacks by Fulani herdsmen. Ujam who made the appeal when he visited the community to pay his condolences and sympatize with the people over the invasion of the community by herdsmen on Thursday, stated that the killing of the Catholic seminarian and inflicting life threatening injuries on four others was painful and unprovoked. The law maker, who is also from the community, was accompanied by his colleague, Hon Kingsley Ebenyi representing Isi-Uzo/Enugu East federal constituency, and the traditional ruler of the community, HRM Igwe Gregory Ugwu. He said, “My colleague and I are here to see for ourselves what happened in the early ours of yesterday. Let me refresh your memory. I was quite vocal on the floor of the National Assembly when a similar act happened in Nimbo community and we stressed that this kind of dastardly act should seize. “We have come here today, painfully, yet again to hear the same story. I will put on record that our people are peace loving people. I want to thank them so far for maintaining the peace. There has been no reprisal and I pray it continues that way. “I also want to thank His excellency the governor, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for coming immediately it happened. I also thank, as I can see, the presence of various security personnel, I thank them for also responding. “But I must say that I’m extremely pained because we have been hearing of this in various parts of the country. It has come to the South East, it has come to Enugu state yet again. I know that those of us in the National Assembly have had meetings trying to come up with proposals on how to stop this activity. “But I call on the federal government, I call on the security agencies to step up; it is their responsibility to protect the lives and property of the Nigerian citizen. No life is worth losing for any reason whatsoever and when you hear the story about how this happened, it pains the more. “This was simply an unprovoked attack. Cattle came into a farm and cattle was just chased away; does that warrant murder in cold blood? “My people are pained, they are agitating but we are appealing to them to hold the peace, two wrongs should not make a right. “So, I once again call on the federal government and the security agencies to protect my people, we do not want to take laws into our hands, we are grieving.” Similarly, Hon. Kingsley Ebenyi, who equally expressed shock over the incident declared: “enough is enough; you can see the level of anger in the mind of the people; this should be the last.” http://dailypost.ng/2016/08/26/enugu-herdsmen-attack-residents-reject-peace-moves-reps-members-express-outrage/

This is not Benue. Allow us to defend ourselves. Let the Army and police stay clear as they have always done when they attack us, only to surface when we mobilise for revenge. They must not come back to Enugu, not anymore. |

nnachukz: Mechi onu eba. No one is holding Enugu people back, una are just being weak. Haven't you Nigga noticed that fulani attack the weak. Abia beat them up, who took the "revenge"....Enugu. Anambra beat them up, who took the "revenge".... Enugu Imo state recently beat them up and who did they go to attack afterwards, yet again....Enugu. Why didn't they ever revenge against the three states guilty of "killing them"? Simply because they know all three states won't give them a chance to run. Fulani people are weak as f2k that's a pattern I notived. They only go after those they believe will never fight them back. Stay there they wait for permission to fight back instead of copying Abia, Anambra and Imo people. Stay there. Even Ebonyi they aren't daring, na only una they dare and yet una do nothing but loud blast your leader. Did Abia, imo, etc wait for their leaders before they took justice? I actually do not feel sorry for Enugu since you people decoded to allow those fulani miscreants continue to shit in your land. 1 Like 1 Share |

I bet Governor Ugwuanyi will soon declare week long fasting and prayer sessions, Instead of outrightly banning the blood thirsty herdsmen from entering Enugu. |

And in your mind, this bullshit you just spilled made so much sense? You should know that those cattle rearers are brave fuckérs, if not how the hell would they have the guts to attack Igbo people in their own land?? Weak is the last word to use to describe them, because they aren't. And violence is never the answer. Engaging in reprisal attacks is the wrongest way to deal with this issue. It would only lead to more blood and violence. nonaira: |

Fabulocity: Bravery? Don't ever abuse that word ever again. Bravery does not consist attacking at night and then running away before people could get them. Bravery is not going after the state closest to middle belt when want to revenge against states that aren't. Fact remains the fulani are WEAK and cowardly as Bleep that goes after the weak. The fulani are literally the definition of a bully...FACT!!!! After all, the middle belt community that fought them back and even litreally roasted and ate their ass, how many times have they attacked them ever since that shit happened? How come they avoiding them now? In Ghana, the Ashanti deals with them in every f2k up they do, how many times have you heard fulani dared the Ashanti or Akan tribes? Even in igboland, the Onitsha and ABia have dealt with them repeatedly..ironically, the community they continously go after is Enugu. F2k out of here with that rubbish. Fulani are as brave as a goat. 1 Like |

You took the word "brave" the wrong way. I mean they are quite daring for launching an attack on Igbo people on their own soil, even with the fact that they know they're easily outnumbered. And like I said, launching a reprisal attack would only lead to more blood and violence. Enough Igbo people are dead already. nonaira: |
Re: Enugu Herdsmen Attack: Residents Reject Peace Moves by nonaira: 12:05am On Aug 27, 2016 |
Fabulocity: Again they aren't daring whatsoever. Daring means attacking a community that isn't bordering Middlebelt. Daring is attacking the community that killed you , you want to revenge and you know there's no escape route and you still go. Daring is attacking in day time when people are awake, not going after people at night. Fulani herdsmen are not even remotely close to the word daring. Stop abusing words. Fulani are weaklings that goes after the weak in effort to give impression of strong or in your case "daring". It is a classic, psychological, bully tactics hence I call them bullies. They went after yorubas almost all the time, even put an emir to rule them because they know the yorubas won't do anything. They go after Middle belt communities that they know won't do anything. They go after Enugu that they know won't do anything. The fulani goes after the weak or people they pursue as weak..it is just that simple Why do I have a feeling you're from Enugu state. Continue looking for a peaceful resolution with a bunch of savages who understands only bloodshed. Ever since una started your peaceful resolution, have it saved the "igbo bloods". Continue dey form peaceful while they kill una. Instead of learning from ABia, imo and co, you no wan listen. 1 Like |

Okay then. Let my fellow Enugu people sharpen their swords and cöck their guns and go and engage in an all out bloody battle with the cowardly Fulanis to prove that they're not weak. Makes so much sense. nonaira: |

SmartChoices: You are just an attention seeking clown. If you are so sure and confident of yourself, put up a petition with your full name and address and send it to my PM, I will take it up from there. Hiding under the comfort of an anonymous forum to throw silly allegations that you can't make in real life around is nothing but an act of cowardice. 1 Like |

SmartChoices: To the best of my knowledge, no land was ceded to fulani either towards Esa oke, ikoro or Ita wure. We have northerners who have settled in the town for years and they own properties and do legitimate business the same way we have Igbos and Urhobo settlers. Morning to you as well. 1 Like |
