4. The whole of the present day Benue State
and the eastern part of present Kogi State
were originally parts of the Southern
Protectorate as at 1900. With that the
Southern Region had a stronger negotiating
numerical strength than the North, and it
remained like that till 1950. At the point of
Regions creation Benue and Eastern Kogi
should have therefore naturally fallen into
Eastern Region, but while they were being
fraudulently carved into the already too big
Northern Region the Zik who should be
leading the resistance to that from Enugu
was far away in Ibadan crying that Awolowo
did not allow him to become the premier of
Western Region. Why did Zik abandon the
interest of his own home in pursuit of his
personal ambition elsewhere?
5. Why did Ifeajuna kill all other politicians
and innocent military officers but left
