Nigerians tell me what <snip> Ribadu and EFCC stand for?

We seem to have very shallow memory of the past.  Have we forgotten Powerful Mustafa, Alhaji Alhaji, Tafa Balogun for 2003 Elections, and a lot of others used and dumped?

I am just sick with this selective fight against corruption.  Its the case of fearing the Owl in the day time and backing it at night on a frolick.

How many Governors and Ministers are not manifestly corrupt?  How much money is controlled by the Federal Government year in year?  Despite the stupendous wealth of Nigeria, what is the state of the Roads, Power/Energy, Education and health sector, Transport, employment, Housing, Food etc.  Where has the money budgeted for these sectors gone to? Dont tell me Alasco the Magic boy/bail jumper stole all that too.

I will have respect and confidence in EFCC if it is reported that it has through their usual unconstitutionally and inhuman  approach arrested the following people:
1. 36 Governors of the states
2. All the Policemen in Nigeria.
3. All the past military rulers and those who held political offices since after military take over
4. All the Customs and Immigration officers and men
5. All the Wive[s] of the President and Governors and their Deputies.
The list is endless, as all this fire brigade tension will soon pass.

I beg put me down, because I am not wearing pant.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Akolawole(m): 1:32pm On Nov 27, 2005
There's nothing like selective punishment. Do you know how many petitions EFCC receives daily?

At least we have to start somewhere. The problem in our Country is we don't appreciate anything.

Do you know that Obasanjo exposed his childhood friend in SM Afolabi ? The shock killed the man in Luton. Do you know how close is Otunba Fasawe to OBJ ?

I have dealt with EFCC on three occassion and they've been marvellous. Its a pity that EFCC and NAFDAC may die a natural death in 2 years time.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Seun(m): 2:53pm On Nov 27, 2005
The Bayelsa State Governor's case is special because he travelled out and tried to launder his stolen money in Britain, where he has no immunity. Now he's back.  Let's wait for the the 19 other state governors under investigation to travel to the UK and try to launder their stolen funds and see what happens.  The EFCC had little to do with this except that they cooperated with the UK Police.

The EFCC is fighting corruption in Nigeria.  Acording to a rumor, there are 20 state governors (out of 36!) currently under investigation by the EFCC, but they can't charge them to court because they enjoy immunity.  That is why we have "selective prosecution".  The EFCC is not responsible for the immunity clause, is it?  Why not blame the lawmakers (National Assembly) for allowing the immunity clause in the constitution?

Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by conscience(m): 9:11pm On Nov 27, 2005
My simple question is where do we start the crusade?
We need a sincere and total fight against Corruption to cleanse Nigeria.
Let the healer heal himself first. I appreciate the fight against Corruption, but my question is why is this only against a particular group of ''bad boys''
Let Baba Iyabo tell Nigerians how much salary he earned and saved to Acquire That Otta Farm which he owns.
Interestingly too, before May 1999, the Otta Farm Project was completely dead and unheard of.
Where did Baba raise the money he injected into it, that revamped the farm to the position that it is now?
Abi we have forgotten the recent exposure of the fraudulent sales of 207 choice properties of federal government at Ikoyi, Lagos. Why didn't EFCC arrest ''Madam and her people'' and not Baba merely revoking it?
Ribadu were you temporary deaf at the time Or you travelled out of the Country? Answer me.

Amebos said five of the beneficiaries were direct relations (brothers, sisters and in-laws) of our late First Lady , while others include ''favoured '' top government officials, serving ministers, governors and senators.
Does the name Tony Anenih ring a bell in your ears? ,
Please someone ask EFCC if they are not aware of the disappearance of over 300 billion Naira (US$ 2.25 billion) meant for federal road construction and maintenance under his nose as Minister of works. Or is this the case of touch not my anointed?
Why does EFCC act like the Vulture by going after ''dead prey'' - Those out of Baba's favour?.
I thought EFCC has no fear or favour.
We leave them to their conscience, which Othman Fodio says is an open wound.

Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by omon(m): 1:53am On Nov 28, 2005
I see why Nigeria is hard to govern. When OBJ did not do anything, you guys complained, now that this campaign for the first time in the history of the country seem to be working, you guys still complain even when it is apparent that his close friends have been entangled. You make noise and offer not to help. Help the course and see that it succeeds, then corruption will be a thing of the past in Nigeria.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Akolawole(m): 2:54am On Nov 28, 2005
God bless you Omon. Can you please respond to the post on 3rd term bid?
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by otokx(m): 10:38am On Nov 28, 2005
No one, does Balogun have immunity? after all the noise its only 6 months that he got in JAIL. The man had the audacity to say its one of those things and it really is because there are still some loot that are not yet disclosed. EFCC is a fraud, a tool used by Ali Baba to oppress any real and imagined opponent.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by omon(m): 1:08pm On Nov 28, 2005
Has OBJ said he is going for a third term. Theu guy has repeatedly denied it in the past, what more do you want him to say? It is the same Nigerians (Sycophants) that are drumming the beats of a thrid term, not OBJ.

I was personally expecting Balogun to be jailed for a longer term but it is important to note that he has been CONVICTED and his properties confisticated. That is good enough for me, he simply would have walked out scot free in the past.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by conscience(m): 10:50pm On Nov 28, 2005
Please permit me to quote SENATOR KANTI BELLO (All Nigeria Peoples Party, Katsina State),  the vice chairman, Senate Committee on Power and Steel who in an interview published in NEW AGE NEWSPAPER of Monday 28th November 2005 said of President Obasanjo -

''........Look at some of his men like Professor Jerry Gana and the late Muhammed Waziri
who came to the National Political Reforms Conference and tried to smuggle in
a new constitution through the back door.

People are becoming jittery and suspect.
There is no confidence in what is happening.
But let me assure you of one thing, to me,
President Obasanjo is just like a big bull with a mad cow disease in a Chinese shop''.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by otokx(m): 11:19am On Nov 29, 2005
@Conscience, I have never seen a better description of OBJ than what u potrayed. I don't know why some Nigerians refuse to read in between the lines. He who come to equity must do so with clean hands. What has happened to the Presidential Library Fund raising fraud? Please let us not even talk about corruption in Nigeria because it is now a part of the job discription of any nigerian in power. Even corruption plus short memory.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Akolawole(m): 8:05pm On Nov 29, 2005
WE DEFINITELY HAVE PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTRY.
I have not hold any political office so i dont know the contents of the so called "code of conduct".
If i use my good office to get some money to build a library, what is the problem about that? As long as Its not from GOVERNMENT PURSE.
Chief Soleye is the chairman of that project, i know there's use of presidential previledge NOT GOVERNMENT MONEY.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Squaner(m): 10:55pm On Nov 30, 2005
As Pope John Paul II was dying; he sent for Tafa Balogun and Diepreye to the Vatican city. When they arrived, they were ushered to his bedroom. As they entered , the clergyman held out his hands and offered sits on each side of his bed. The Pope grasped their hands, sighed contentedly, smiled and stared at the ceiling. For a time, no one said anything. Both Tafa and Diepreye were touched and flattered that the old Pope would ask them to be with him during his final moments. They were also puzzled because the Pope never gave any indication that he liked either one of them. Finally, Tafa asked, "Fader, what for did you husk de two of huss to come 'ere?" The old Pope mustered up some strength & said weakly, "Jesus died between two thieves"

Is OBJ really fightin corruption or merely neutralizing his political opponents?

1where is Chris Uba?
2.Ali must go?
3. 'Anini' Anenih
4. Jerry Gana
5. Killers of Bola Ige
I just don't want to go on mentioning names.

Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Akolawole(m): 11:07pm On Dec 01, 2005
This forum is meant to EDUCATE not OTHERWISE
What is the relevance of this names?
Do you think OBJ and Chief Bola Ige are 1999 friends?
Note, they have been friends since the 60's even Baba Awolowo has to rebuke and suspend Ige once for his closeness with OBJ.
What concern "agbero with overload" I will not blame Uba, i'm blaming their people and that "yeye" governor who sign the state's destiny away.
What did Anenih does ? He's just a political contractor, otherwise known as "mr fix it"
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by otokx(m): 5:55pm On Dec 27, 2005
is adedibu also obasanjo's friend? shoe get size even baba knows that so he is begging the strongman so who is fooling who?
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Akolawole(m): 7:35pm On Dec 27, 2005
Adedibu is NOT OBJ's friend.
In Yoruba's context Baale Molete(as we call him in Ibadan) is a father or elder brother to OBJ.
Again i repeat for the second time, OBJ had once called Baba Adedubu a Nuisance in Ibadan.
He's not going to call him that publicly for the second time.

Otokx, Conscience,
I greet una. There's nothing like starting from somewhere in fighting corruption. It's either you are against corruption, and you are seen to be doing just that, or you are for it. There's nothing like sitting on the fence and eating from both sides. OBJ is sitting on the fence. I have said it time and again on this forum that OBJ is a corrupt man.

He has dined with the devil, his hands are soiled with blood. The bloods of the Opposition. What with the lives of the slain AGF - Chief Bola Ige. Where are the culprits fingered in the murder case of the man? Sen. Iyiola Omisore was elected while he was in prison. Former PDP Deputy Chairman South South, Dikibo was slain by gunmen, his killers are yet to be unmasked. What type of corruption fighter will admit the likes of Chris Uba as party member - sorry, chieftain, even when the guy confessed that he rigged the election in Anambra in 2003?

All these Balogun and Afolabi talks do not move me an inch. Those guys fell out of favour with OBJ. When the going was good for years and the boys were delivering as promise, EFCC did not go after them. We all know how brutal OBJ can be with anybody who crossed his paths.

Is it not strange that Tony Blair did not reply OBJ's letter on Alams escape. Maybe, he replied OBJ, in private, why did he (OBJ) not release it to the public for all to read? I bet it was not palatable.

Otokx, Conscience, those who tell the truth hardly get any support in this world. The truth is bitter, but we must tell it as it is. More grease to your elbow.

He makes me feel proud of being a nigerian.

Selective persecution abi !

Can you read Marwa story as well to know who REPORTED him:

Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by ono(m): 9:08am On Dec 30, 2005
Marwa wants to be President in 2007 by all means. He's not ''seen to be loyal to OBJ'' Hence, the NEED for EFCC to chase him a while to see if he'll repent and follow the bandwagon of third-term bidders. Chikena!
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Akolawole(m): 11:14am On Dec 30, 2005
I don't think some people even sleep, or eat again because of OBJ's purpoted 3rd term bid.

If Seun analyse their statitics very well in this forum, the only thread they contribute is Obasanjo nothing more!

The hatred is so much that if OBJ is on NTA, they switched to foreign station and if the Newscaster in the station mentioned " the africa union Chairman..., they switch off their TV completely.
Habah, there's so much to contribute than OBJ.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by ono(m): 2:36pm On Dec 30, 2005
@Akolawole, you are right, at least the third term thing is purported.

And often times when OBJ's on air, I don't understand him. No be say I no dey speak pidgin english o, in fact Warri is generally regarded as the headquarters of pidgin english in Nigeria, but OBJ's pidgin english na from Ota Farms, where only the chikens there understand him. In that regard, you are right.

I generally don't listen to him until his statements have been interpreted by the local dailies - and that's after rigorous QA/QC to be sure that's what statement he actually made.

I like reading your post at least to learn some tricks of the game

1) Why did you dodge my #21 link?

2) You generally dont listening to OBJ........... grin
Even with his smattering english, Bush, Blair cannot resist him
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by alheri(f): 5:32pm On Dec 30, 2005
ono youre very funny indeed!

As to the question who is fighting corruption in Nigeria?,my answer is: They hearts of "Nigerians" is fighting corruption. We all want it to stop but we are all contributing in one way or the other. We would all rather give a small "tip" to the policeman on the road than be delayed unneccessarily for hours. The spirit is willing but the body it weak. May God help us all.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by Posh(m): 12:57am On Feb 10, 2006
I have always felt that Nigeria is like a chair on wobbly legs. The executive, judiciary and the legislative arms of government are in dire need of "surgical attention".There has been this hue and cry about the ills of corruption and attempts to curb it,but we know that corruption still ranks in the land like an epidemic.
The anti-corruption crusade should go beyond mere rhetorics, windowdressing or hunting perceived enemies or how else can one explain that a "highly placed" criminal by name Tafa Balogun was convicted of stealing billions of naira by a "kangaroo court" presided by an executive "puppet" in the name of Chief Judge. If Tafa Balogun was to be a poor man, he will have bagged for himself 30 years or more in jail with hard labour. No wonder, the musician African China spoke about this when he sang"When a poor man steals, his face is shown on crimefighters on national television, but when a big man steals, his face is not shown on shwon. The EFCC,which is supposed to be an anticorrution watchdog may well be an instrument used by executive to hunt down political enemies or opponents of the third term bid of the president;unless the EFCC is made to be independent of the intricacies or meddlesomeness of the executive,it may go the way of the ICPC-a toothles bulldog.

As far as I know, the anticorruption crusade of the present administration is a charade,a show of shame,a bastion of the true ideals which we herald.I suggest that all political office holders starting from the president be made to declare all their assets on national television, also all of them should account to us their sources of income and anyone who account properly for his sourceof income should be convicted and be jailed for life. Most religious leaders in NIgeria are sycophants, praise singers ,political bucaneers and junketeers;they should be made to face thier primary assignment -to tend God's flock or be shown the way out.

Fighting corruption is an individual choice.not everyone in politics or the armed forces are corrupt.jst dat their good is stained by the corrupted majority
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by owo2390(m): 9:19pm On Jul 20, 2011
the majority isn't corrupt, the minority is. We need to educate the majority and harm ourselves with knowledge only then can we rise up and challenge those corrupt officials. No one need 2o cars or 10 houses. We can strive to live in a society where everyone has a place to eat, a place to sleep, and a place to get a good education. Only then can we eradicate corruption, once and for all.

Thank you

the majority is very corrupt. corruption in nigeria cuts across tribes, sex, social class, age, etc. the ones who haven't been arrested for corruption yet are yet to hold a position where they can embezzle entrusted funds. the average nigeria puts himself before anything. it's the way we are and it won't change for a while.
Re: Who is Wrestling Corruption in Nigeria? by owo2390(m): 9:30pm On Jul 20, 2011
Not really. But its all semantics. And The average Nigerian puts him/herself forward first because no one else will. If we live a better society where Cops don't ask for N20 at every checkpoint, or the senators don't pay themselves $2 million/year, Nigerians would be less selfish. Just saying!!!!
