Nigerians tell me what <snip> Ribadu and EFCC stand for? 

We seem to have very shallow memory of the past.  Have we forgotten Powerful Mustafa, Alhaji Alhaji, Tafa Balogun for 2003 Elections, and a lot of others used and dumped?

I am just sick with this selective fight against corruption.  Its the case of fearing the Owl in the day time and backing it at night on a frolick.

How many Governors and Ministers are not manifestly corrupt?  How much money is controlled by the Federal Government year in year?  Despite the stupendous wealth of Nigeria, what is the state of the Roads, Power/Energy, Education and health sector, Transport, employment, Housing, Food etc.  Where has the money budgeted for these sectors gone to? Dont tell me Alasco the Magic boy/bail jumper stole all that too.

I will have respect and confidence in EFCC if it is reported that it has through their usual unconstitutionally and inhuman  approach arrested the following people:
1. 36 Governors of the states
2. All the Policemen in Nigeria.
3. All the past military rulers and those who held political offices since after military take over
4. All the Customs and Immigration officers and men
5. All the Wive[s] of the President and Governors and their Deputies.
The list is endless, as all this fire brigade tension will soon pass.

I beg put me down, because I am not wearing pant.

There's nothing like selective punishment. Do you know how many petitions EFCC receives daily?

At least we have to start somewhere. The problem in our Country is we don't appreciate anything.

Do you know that Obasanjo exposed his childhood friend in SM Afolabi ? The shock killed the man in Luton. Do you know how close is Otunba Fasawe to OBJ ?

I have dealt with EFCC on three occassion and they've been marvellous. Its a pity that EFCC and NAFDAC may die a natural death in 2 years time.

The Bayelsa State Governor's case is special because he travelled out and tried to launder his stolen money in Britain, where he has no immunity. Now he's back.  Let's wait for the the 19 other state governors under investigation to travel to the UK and try to launder their stolen funds and see what happens.  The EFCC had little to do with this except that they cooperated with the UK Police.

The EFCC is fighting corruption in Nigeria.  Acording to a rumor, there are 20 state governors (out of 36!) currently under investigation by the EFCC, but they can't charge them to court because they enjoy immunity.  That is why we have "selective prosecution".  The EFCC is not responsible for the immunity clause, is it?  Why not blame the lawmakers (National Assembly) for allowing the immunity clause in the constitution?

Please someone ask EFCC if they are not aware of the disappearance of over 300 billion Naira (US$ 2.25 billion) meant for federal road construction and maintenance under his nose as Minister of works. Or is this the case of touch not my anointed?

I see why Nigeria is hard to govern. When OBJ did not do anything, you guys complained, now that this campaign for the first time in the history of the country seem to be working, you guys still complain even when it is apparent that his close friends have been entangled. You make noise and offer not to help. Help the course and see that it succeeds, then corruption will be a thing of the past in Nigeria.

No one, does Balogun have immunity? after all the noise its only 6 months that he got in JAIL. The man had the audacity to say its one of those things and it really is because there are still some loot that are not yet disclosed. EFCC is a fraud, a tool used by Ali Baba to oppress any real and imagined opponent.

Has OBJ said he is going for a third term. Theu guy has repeatedly denied it in the past, what more do you want him to say? It is the same Nigerians (Sycophants) that are drumming the beats of a thrid term, not OBJ.


I was personally expecting Balogun to be jailed for a longer term but it is important to note that he has been CONVICTED and his properties confisticated. That is good enough for me, he simply would have walked out scot free in the past.

@Conscience, I have never seen a better description of OBJ than what u potrayed. I don't know why some Nigerians refuse to read in between the lines. He who come to equity must do so with clean hands. What has happened to the Presidential Library Fund raising fraud? Adedibu is NOT OBJ's friend.
In Yoruba's context Baale Molete(as we call him in Ibadan) is a father or elder brother to OBJ.
Again i repeat for the second time, OBJ had once called Baba Adedubu a Nuisance in Ibadan.

What type of corruption fighter will admit the likes of Chris Uba as party member - sorry, chieftain, even when the guy confessed that he rigged the election in Anambra in 2003?

All these Balogun and Afolabi talks do not move me an inch. Those guys fell out of favour with OBJ. When the going was good for years and the boys were delivering as promise, EFCC did not go after them. We all know how brutal OBJ can be with anybody who crossed his paths.

Is it not strange that Tony Blair did not reply OBJ's letter on Alams escape. Maybe, he replied OBJ, in private, why did he (OBJ) not release it to the public for all to read? I bet it was not palatable.

Ono, I want to agree with you. I have been following all the contributions of that chap called Conscience and i must say here that he has such high intellect and maturity than all his adversaries  put together. He is one of the best here, raising issues for intellectual and political discuss

And often times when OBJ's on air, I don't understand him. No be say I no dey speak pidgin english o, in fact Warri is generally regarded as the headquarters of pidgin english in Nigeria, but OBJ's pidgin english na from Ota Farms, where only the chikens there understand him. In that regard, you are right.

I generally don't listen to him until his statements have been interpreted by the local dailies - and that's after rigorous QA/QC to be sure that's what statement he actually made.

As to the question who is fighting corruption in Nigeria?,my answer is: They hearts of "Nigerians" is fighting corruption. We all want it to stop but we are all contributing in one way or the other. We would all rather give a small "tip" to the policeman on the road than be delayed unneccessarily for hours.The spirit is willing but the body it weak. May God help us all.

I have always felt that Nigeria is like a chair on wobbly legs.The executive,judiciary and the legislative arms of government are in dire need of "surgical attention".There has been this hue and cry about the ills of corruption and attempts to curb it,but we know that corruption still ranks in the land like an epidemic.
The anti-corruption crusade should go beyond mere rhetorics,windowdressing or hunting perceived enemies or how else can one explain that a "highly placed" criminal by name Tafa Balogun was convicted of stealing billions of naira by a "kangaroo court" presided by an executive "puppet" in the name of Chief Judge.If Tafa Balogun was to be a poor man, he will have bagged for himself 30 years or more in jail with hard labour.No wonder,the musician African China spoke about this when he sang"When a poor man steals,his face is shown on crimefighters on national television,but when a big man steals,his face is not shown on shwon.The EFCC,which is supposed to be an anticorrution watchdog may well be an instrument used by executive to hunt down political enemies or opponents of the third term bid of the president;unless the EFCC is made to be independent of the intricacies or meddlesomeness of the executive,it may go the way of the ICPC-a toothles bulldog.

the majority is very corrupt. corruption in nigeria cuts across tribes, sex, social class, age, etc. the ones who haven't been arrested for corruption yet are yet to hold a position where they can embezzle entrusted funds. the average nigeria puts himself before anything. it's the way we are and it won't change for a while.

Not really. But its all semantics. And The average Nigerian puts him/herself forward first because no one else will. If we live a better society where Cops don't ask for N20 at every checkpoint, or the senators don't pay themselves $2 million/year, Nigerians would be less selfish. Just saying!!!!
