There's a lot of misconception about this law.
Some people think that the law out rightly ban cattle production in Ekiti. Some even think that the law will result in beef/meat scarcity in the state, others think that the law infringe on the right of movement and free trade

But that if not correct, as what is required is just more sensitisation and awareness creation about the benefits of this new law.

Instead of castigating Fayose let Nigerians support the implementation and enforcement of this law for the benefit of Ekiti people.

For me, one major benefit of this law is that it will compel animal (ruminant e.g cattle) farmers to abandone extensive system of production (e.g pastoralism or open grazing) with all its deadly devastating disadvantages and adopt intensive system of animal husbanry which is more productive and lucrative.

Fayose was wrong to enact such laws in the first place. The fulanis have the right to live and work in ekiti just like every other Nigerian. Why ban their business of cattle rearing when they have no other means? Why criminalize the fulanis as if all fulanis are killers? There are bad eggs amongst every tribe, why do we make it look like violence is exclusive to northerners only. The people we should frown at are cattle rustlers who steals cattle from fulanis and use them as disguise for their evil deeds. The fulanis are peaceful people who go about their business in peace and we all know they control their herds of cattle with mere sticks. Even though we call them primitive, how many southerner can rear cattle for national consumption like the fulanis? Without them how do we see beef to consume? The rustlers are armed terrorist escaping from the north east to the south. What fayose should have done is to forbid any herdsmen from moving around with weapons, not banning cattle rearing completely. If all states cooperated with the FG on creation of grazing reserves throughout the country, there will not be a single cattle left on the streets looking for grass. Instead we chastised president Buhari's brilliant policy in the name of islamization. The ripple effects are the incessant attacks by the rustlers. The grazing bill remains the best and safest option. Not unnecessary bans sad

I pity people like you, educated illitrate, so the lives of people killed in Enugu mean nothing to you because of beef. The fulanis call people like you 'useful fools'.

In civilised countries, is this how their government buys lands for the cattle herders?

Or do you see cattle wandering about aimlessly on the streets of America, Dubai, London etc?

Dear searchiing4love,

I honestly respect your opinions about the Fulani's freedom to do their business any where in the country as they are Nigerians as much as every other Nigerians rich or poor, it also seems that you are not viewing the Fulani's Herd's Men issues from the perspective of the people whose businesses and source of lively hood has been affected by the activities of the herd's men.

Please imagine being a farmer and waking up to discover that your crops that are at the verge of harvest had been devoured overnight by cattle delibrately led into your farm by herd's men to graze on your months of hard labor.

apart from the above, it is also unsafe, from my own point of view to herd cattle in the city, considering the dangers involved to the cattle, the herd's men and the society at large.

I have personally not experienced the negative impacts of the herd's men but i know some people that have been affected, one thing i can tell you is that the experience leaves them with a great sense of loss and a much greater sense of bitterness and need to revenge or judgement. the ripple effect of this is a depressed, discouraged citizen set leading to a downward turn in the economy.

My advise is that the herd's men should form an association or a cooperative union to empower them acquire grazing fields where there cattle will be confined and secured, this will enhance their investment and the economy as a whole.

I pray your property or business will not be affected negatively by the activities of another person's business

Kind Regards

See as them still belief say we be fools
Please answer these few equations is cattle rearing a business? How much tax do these herdsmen pay? Is poultry not lifestock rearing too? Who provides land for the poultry or pock farmer? Who's land would the FG collect to call grazing reserve in bayelsa, Akwa ibom Lagos or any other southern state. Why is the FG not importing other animal feeds or is beef more nutritious than chicken or Turkey?
That plan to islamatize the south by forcing muslin communities in our mist is and would be resisted. Any1 every1 has the right to whatever religion they choose but not at the expense of another. We say a big
NO TO GRAZING RESERVE AND IMPORTATION OF GRASS with our scare foreign exchange for people who don't pay tax
