The Anambra Government said on Thursday that the high cut-off mark allocated to candidates from the state, seeking admission into Federal Government's Unity Schools was not acceptable.

The state's Commissioner for Education, Dr Uju Okeke, made the disclosure in Awka in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).


Okeke said that the state was not comfortable with the off point imposed on candidates from Anambra, arguing that the high mark amounted to denying children from Anambra equal access to the Unity Schools.

"The cut-off mark for Anambra is too high. I do not know the criteria but it is not acceptable to us. It is injustice.

"We shall register our protest about it with the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja during our seminars," she said.

It will be recalled that the Federal Ministry of Education last week announced the cut-off marks for entrance into the Unity Schools, following the release of examination results by the National Examination Council, organisers of the common entrance examinations.
