Is there a governor in Ogun State? What can the governor point to, to be his achievement since he became a governor in Ogun State over 6 years ago? What has Akute and its neighboring towns done to deserve the neglect? There is no presence of government in this area at all. From Ojodu Abiodun - Akute axis, to Berger - Akute axis, to Ishaga - Akute axis, Giwa (Agbado) - Olambe - Akute axis, what you see are just sign posts saying " Welcome to Ifo Local Government area", thereafter nothing else. What has happened to all the federal allocation given to Ogun State for road development? Where has the money budgeted for road development and maintenance gone too?

A stretch of road divides Akute (Ogun State) and Ojodu (Lagos State), while Lagos is developing her own area (Ojodo) in terms of road development, electrification, pipe borne water and construction of school, Ogun state has abandoned Akute and it adjoining towns. Ogun state cannot hold claim to any development in that area, whatever, that has been achieved, was done through communal effort. Hardly can you pass through any street in the area without you seeing street entrances man by the street residents collecting tolls from motorist, done with a view of generating fund to develop their roads.

The last major road development in the area was done by Marwa, when he was the governor of Lagos state. According to him (Marwa), he embarked on the road development in Akute and its environ, because Lagos has its water corporation situated in Akute and it would be ideal to develop the road there to facilitate ease of movement of material and personnel to their water generating station in Akute. The road (Yakoyo- Alagbole - Akute) Marwa constructed over 15 years ago is still the only motorable in the entire area.

Gbenga Daniel constructed Ojodu Abiodun-Ishasi-Akute road, the road started given way and heading to it former state just barely three months after its construction. Infact, while Gbenga Daniel was commissioning the road at Ojodu Abiodun, people were being ferried by canoe across a small river along that road because the bridge of the newly constructed road caved in due to a fairly heavy downfall some couple of days before the commissioning. Yet OGD went ahead to commission a very shoddy road construction rather than reprimand the contractor and the supervisor that supervised the construction.

Today, all the roads in Akute and its environ are in a very bad state and the people leaving in the area are suffering and smiling (According to Fela). Driving from Victoria Island to Berger (Lagos Ibadan) during the peak period (5pm on Monday) takes less time than from Berger to Akute, a distance of about 5KM. You drive on this roads with stress and it causes you to visit your Mechanic at least one every two month.

It may interest you to know that Lagos pays Ogun State royalty for her water works situated in Akute, why can't OGD use part of the royalty received from Lagos to develop these area and give the people a sense of belonging.

Ogun state should cede Akute to Lagos if you think your government cannot develop the area. The area cry for development.

You go shout tire. To Daniel, there is nothing of value in Akute except of course grailand. We don talk so tay it is as if Akute is a country of its own.

Used to go through this place in my NYSC days and I used to be amazed if Akute/Ajuwon were really recognized as part of Ogun state by the government. I would never forget getting stuck in traffic on the mud-road for lack of adequate description.
