Mr. man shut up & stop fooling ursef. If u hv nothng reasonable to say, pls stop spewing trash & get out of here. Do u think Igbos ar lazy & myopic dat they cant see opportunities in anywhere they see themselves? Do u think it is only in Yoruba Land dat Igbos ar? For ur info, Igbos ar evrywhere. Go to de North, Abuja, SS or evn abroad, they are there, let alone de SE & som parts of SS dat ar basically their homes. In fact, my boss in my former office (an Edo man) once told me dat wherever u go & do not see at least 1 Igbo person, pls run away from there because dat place is not safe for human habitation. Then I asked him why he said so & he told me dat it's because Igbos ar evrywhere. Many Igbos ar business oriented & dat makes them travel far & wide in pursuit of their business. Moreover, dat gives them an edge over som ppl like u the "barbaric SonofYoruba" (as u call ursef) who confine ursef in 1 corner of ur cubicle & claim to know all dat is happening in all parts of de world.

It does not give them any edge... igbos go where they consider safe... As long as igbos pay tax wherever they travel to they are only increasing the revenue of that place and it does not give them any advantage because their hometowns need the tax more than those places...

Yes, its a revolutionary idea and one that would solve our problems. And many countries already did same long time ago.

1. Japan did so.

When the British got to Japan in the 1600 century, they ried to enslave them to no avail. They tried at least to install English language in their school curriculum, but the Japanese only tried it for a couple of years, discovered it wasn't good for their development and banned English from their schools. This's the only reason Japan is not a poor country today. You can be rest assured of this because the British succeeded in installing their language in nearby Philippines. What's the outcome? Poverty!.

2. Malaysia and Indonesia did so.

Between the 70's-80's, Malaysia and Indonesia (both also former British colonies) noticed education was't working and that they were getting poorer. They researched and discovered one is better taught in native language to be able to have a good grasp of subjects like Chemistry, biology, Physics. They discovered that native language is a natutal capital for conceptualizing science and that you cannot industrialize without science.

They started making this bold changes that I'm talking about. Malaysia tried reshuffling their educational system like the 6-3-3-4 we tried here in Nigeria before. They tried it but it didn't work, just as it didn't upgrade knowledge acquisition in Nigeria. They tried so many things until they banned English as a language of instruction in their schools, except of course few private schools where expatriates and other foreigners learn. That was in the early 80's, and it was from then that Malaysia and Indonesia over-took Africa. They suddenly began to develop!.

They began to develop because, using native language they began to study and understand science (how nature works) and was able to start manufacturing themselves out of poverty.

3. Brunei Darussalam did so.

Brunei also within Asia Pacific copied from Malaysia and Indonedia and paid priority attentiion to their Malay language as a language of instruction in schools and they began to develop as well.

Philippines till today remains the poorest country within that axis, because they (like African nations) have been brainwashed beyond repair. Just watch their soap opera and the height of their movie is always when a Philippino travel to America or Europe. They've been unable to untangle themselves from western intellectual control just like Africa. Well, the result is poverty!!

All this nations are sovereign and their people did not see the colonising language as superior as Africans do. The examples used above can only applied to the Igbo language if the populace is willing to switch to being Igbo language based instead of the mixture being used now. What I'm saying is that from observation I can see many Igbo parents don't even want their kids speaking Igbo let alone learning in it or being their main mode of communication. A Japanese would never refer to a Japanese person that cannot speak English as illiterate, whereas that is the norm in Nigeria, although in the past Chinese was the equivalent of a colonising language for Japanese speakers because that was the language of education, but they never let go of Japanese.

una go still pay tax last last.... Yorubaland is wide open keep coming and keep paying tax..... Yorubas have created the environment where they only need to tax people to make money...

because u see a yoruba man not working does not mean he does not make money...

Why not!.
If Igbo is made compulsory in schools, students would just follow up naturally. The problem lie not in what people would say, but our intimidated educationists and scholars.

By the way, before our unfortunate contact with white people, we acquired knowledge using Igbo language. Or, did knowledge acquisition begin in Igboland when we met white people?

I'm talking about reconstructing ourselves and you're telling me people wouldn't like it. For your information, Mozambique, Zambia, and Gambia are already implementing policies to ban English from their schools. They want to go back learning naturally in their native languages as it should be. That's the right thing to do!

We had a life before we met white people.

Ban English?
That would be disastrous to them.
Chinese people are killing themselves to learn English/French ans one Knucklehead wants to throw that away?

What I advocate for is for the local language be the language of instruction in PRIMARY school, since then, their brains are still soft and they can learn, (they should have English teachers too, but the language of instruction should be in the local language, then at secondary and university level, then it can be English, that way, a child will be able to read and write in BOTH English and an African Language.

We need to be strategic

If HATRED is food Igbos should have been well fed by now, it is time they ALL eschew these deep hatred and resentment they have for other people and work for the greater good of this country. This is an exemplary gesture by the Yorubas of Nigeria, Yorubas remain the most united, the most tolerant (considering how the Ooni of Ife went for Eid prayer a few days ago). They are once again setting the pace for a new peaceful Nigeria. God bless Nigeria.

Soon some we say igbo people are only in Lagos and be insulting d yorubas their host inluding calling Lagos a no man's land what an arrant nonsense.

West side is the best side....is only yorubas that are uniting this country called Nigeria.

I dont get why and what we should be grateful to you for,you are Nigerian, igbos are Nigerians carrying out their citizenry rights. You probably aren't in your place of origin but place of birth.

And i dont understand how you'd accrue credit to yourself for other people living and integreting into your regional culture,if anything,it is the igbos who are social, accomodating, industriously productive hence being in fusion with other ethnicities. You probably speak only yoruba and dont travel out, how are you more Nigerian than the igbos who perhaps speak more than 4 languages on average as a testament to their strength in linguistic intelligence thus the diversification of ethnic assimilation unlike you,who can't speak nor understand neighbouring itsekiri and choose to manufacture an imaginary title as "the most accomodating"....

Actually, the question is when will you start being more Nigerian and less Yoruba. In a broader sense you are the most bigoted tribal group of people but you have no idea.
