There are innumerable amount of value chain in the house of Agriculture, from cultivation to the final consumer and to the individual farm produce, it goes all the way. The nature of agricultural development and the way food is produced, processed and sold is changing rapidly. Consumers increasingly want safe, higher value, and varied agricultural products. This is creating opportunities for farmers and agribusiness entrepreneurs along agricultural value chains to transform commodities into higher value products—a process that can play an important role in poverty reduction. This is what most state governments have refused to see and will not see that in the near future. Oil myopism has affected most of the state.

When they say that Nigerian would diversify , Be it known that Nigeria can feed herself as a country, but the challenge is having the will power to add value in the agricultural value chain. 70℅ of agricultural products are lost due to this situation. There are no will power and political will to ensure that this wastage is minimized.

From Kogi to Bauchi. From Kano to Delta it is all about wastage,no value chain, no way of preserving farm produce …what we get is wastage and hunger.

The pictures that you are seeing now is my place in Ukwuani. These are farm produce wasting in my home town , Aballa Uno in Ndokwa East LGA of Delta state. Thousands of people are going hungry in Nigeria but these produce can’t get to them due to bad road.

This town is a major producer of cassava, yams and plantain. Fish,etc.. I want to use this medium to appeal to the NDDC. Delta state government and the Federal government to come to the rescue. The contract for this road has been awarded to Interbau company years back but nothing has been done... https://etimesafrica./2016/09/14/wasting-agricultural/#more-1427

We need more of such reporting.

The construction of motorable roads and efficient railway network could change the standard of living of the people in quite a positive way.

We need food processing plants to be setup close such places as well. This would lead to better preservation, increase employment and improve the supply chain.

The sad tale of a country that had lost its way a long time ago.

Same way there was excess supply of tomatoes that all got wasted, before the tuta absoluta epidermic wiped off what what was left.
Nigeria is in such messed up state, I tell ya.

No need to keep complaining. I can't build the roads, I can't construct the railways, but I can exploit an opportunity when I see one.
