I just had a conversation with my friend now and he talked deep about the osu caste system. He told me his father has been warning him not to marry an 'Osu'. I was surprised that he even mentioned it at all. Is this system still practiced in eastern Nigeria?

Why doesn't someone explain what it is first of all?
I've been hearing this most of my life but never cared to ask what it means. I only know osus are families driven out of their homeland warned to never touch Igbo soil again. What type of offense can people commit which leads to such punishment?
