The Kano state Hisba is a group of Uniform personnel presently headed by Mallam Aminu Daurawa. It's an Islamic organization under the Kano State government established more than a decade ago. The Hisba consist of both highly trained men and women in uniform to carry out certain functions in the State. They report to the Nigeria police Force.

1. Alternate Dispute Resolution: The Hisba board settle dispute between people or group of people regardless of their religion or tribe and also marriage counseling, marriage resolutions to avoid divorce.

2. Mass wedding: For those who couldn't afford to marry, the Hisba board organize a free yearly mass wedding for couples, they pay for bride Price and also first night chicken. it should be noted, the Hisba board with the help of non governmental organization carried out series of tests on couples before marriage, test ranging from Hiv to other transmittable diseases.

3. War Against Street Begging: The Hisba arrest, warn, counsel and deport beggars to their state of Origin. A beggar who was caught more than once is handed to police, for proper prosecution in court.

4. War against rape, prostitutions, drug abuse and other intoxicants.

5. Disaster Response Hisbah are also trained to assist with disaster response operations.

The Hisbah Corps does not have authority to execute arrests and officers are armed only with non-lethal weapons for self-defense, such as batons. Hisbah officers who observe violations of Sharia are expected to alert the Nigeria Police Force. Other duties of the Hisbah Corps include arbitrating the voluntary reconciliation of disputes, verbally chastising violators, and maintaining order at religious celebrations.

Best of all is ENJOINING WHAT IS KNOWN TO BE GOOD AND FORBIDEN WHAT IS KNOWN TO BE BAD.
"Whoever sees an evil activity must change(stop) it with his own hand if he cant, then with his tongue, if he cant then he should abhor it. And that is the weakest level of faith.

I don't think alcohol can be banned in South. Because it has become part of their life. But nothing is above the government, if government wish, then it's over.

Anyone that cannot afford a condom cannot afford a baby. Likewise, anyone that cannot afford a marriage ceremony cannot afford to keep a family. It's simple logic. Mass marriages should be banned. Or is marriage compulsory?

Islam says marry when you can afford it. Not marry when the government or hisba police can. And please, no one should bring up the issue of marrying to avoid premarital sex etc. Islam says you should fast if you cannot keep to yourself. Things like this only lead to poverty. That's why we have all these unkempt children with big bowls running up and down the streets of Kaduna north where we Muslims are majority. I live in Kaduna south and I have never seen an adult beggar, talkless of a child beggar.

NB: I am a Muslim too.

If I understand your point. You mean the government should not help people with bride Price as assistance to marry.

why are they destroying beer?

Hisba was established 13 years ago, so stop talking of Boko Haram. Hisba is a state own security personnel. Why should they not destroy alcohol Alcohol is bad both Islamically and physiologically.

The ratio of Muslims vs Non Muslim in kano is 90:10 so there is no way the law will favor others against the preference of Majority.
That is why Muslim cannot say Alcohol must be banned in Enugu or Ekiti etc

Again Alcohol physiologically is bad to the body. It should be banned nation wide. Ask doctors they should tell you it effects.

Lol, when we were travelling to calabar, we passed through many states and each state had their unique signboards welcoming strangers to the state, when we got to calabar the signboard that was used promoted snapp...very sick people.
