This is one of the incredible stories i find in the bible

How could people have ever reasoned to build such tower as at that ancient time when there was no technology,
Today people have constructed planes and rockets and have passed that limit that the tower builders could not reach in the space, why didnt God stop them ? does it mean that God has relocated ?
Does it now mean that God now exist in the physical body and no longer the spirit that the bible said, how come he was insecured by ordinary physical building ?

The king at that time was jealous that there is another GREAT KING which is GOD , so he wanted to kill God but he forgot that it is impossible. First God cast confusion among them, when the tower was built to a certain level, the king went on top of it and shoot a arrow up hoping to kill God and God return back with a strong wind that destroyed them all.

SO that teaches us not to try GOD, baba God i hail o cheesy

u entered my thoughts & took dis post out. I was about 2 ask d same question on NL.
Dat goes 2 show dat it is illitrates dat wrote d bible.
Is dat buildin as tall as d burj in dubai?
Why didnt he blow up space ships & confuse pilots in airplane.
Those piple wrote it then because they were ignorant of space.
I dont know why anybody will still believe in dis jewish myth.
Re: Did The Tower Of Babel Threaten God's Heaven. by donjon: 9:15am On Oct 10, 2009
No! U got it all wrong! Why?

It wasnt d height of the tower that scared GOD! it was the fact that so many men could agree on a particular thing!

It was the unity dat scared him!
Undastand?
The tower of babel is just one example.
If those men chose to simply fly to heaven, instead of building a tower, dat UNITY would have made it possible!

Cant yall see dat the reason for current global problems is dat we are divided?

That is why, oyinbo will come 2 africa to dump toxic waste! & yahoo boiz will revenge by scamming d sh*t outta dier asses!

Itz because we're divided dat osama attacked USA, dat hausa kill igbo, yoruba etc

after all this, i hand it 2 GOD!, he is one clever guy

Africans are very stupid, if people can believe this obvious Cock and Bull story, why don't they also believe that Oduduwa came down on a rope from heaven with a grain of sand which became the earth? or the many other creation stories we have in Nigeria alone.

Tower of babel: what type of engineering marvel is that; the base of a towel for a 1 mile high must be huge. The climbing and moving thing up, plus breathing, well this is something the writers or proponent of the tower did not think about!

at least from this story we can see that heaven is not a spiritual realm as propounded by new testament writers but was a physical place above the clouds where God resides, according to old testament writers.

I,and I guess many others, don't relish replying this kinds of posts.mainly because the inquirers are usually, hardly interested in learning but aim at ridicule&stubborn dogma. I wish would be an exception(if wishes were horses).
As usual, many have ERRED not knowing the Bible or God's power. God doesn't get 'scared',and the Genesis passage doesn't say that He was 'scared'.

God is where He was since the beginning.
The purpose and the God's commandment was for the people to multiply and subdue the Earth.
When they rebelled, God had to change their language so that they could spread all over the earth.
Nothing can intimidate God. He is too big to be threatened by what He created.
Re: Did The Tower Of Babel Threaten God's Heaven. by Image123(m): 10:46pm On Oct 11, 2009
Genesis 11v7 says "Go to,let us go down, and confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech". Why did God do this? The answer isn't far-fetched, there are consequences for disobedience.
Genesis 1v28 commands man to 'Be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, and subdue it.' After the destruction of man by water, God came again and commanded man in Genesis 9v1 Be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth i.e fill it, move round, explore. Unfortunately, every imaginations of man was only evil continually,it's a result of man's fall from God's image and life. Genesis 11v2 says 'as they journeyed'(seems they were initially obeying) BUT, 'they dwelt there'(in Shinar).
Verse 4 tells us their purpose, "lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the earth". And God came down, not to laugh at their folly and its impossibility, but to put a permanent end to their rudeness. They had strongly united to disobey God in an 'amoral' command which would have benefitted them. That unity could grow in worse ways.

Can we safely label the story of the Tower of Babel as a mythical tale?
Re: Did The Tower Of Babel Threaten God's Heaven. by RikoduoSennin(m): 4:13pm On Aug 15, 2014
^^^ It is only a Myth to you, who rely on hearsay (stories get altered that way) rather than reading and meditate on it. If you don't get/ understand something, logic dictates you research on it.

Gen 11:3 - Era of the stone age,Burnt Brick was us used as stone and Bitumen were used as mortar to build the tower of babel in the Valley of Shinar.
Research, if it is possible that such materials can be use for construction, if bitumen was common in the valley plain of Shinar, if ancient buildings were built using similiar materials.

Gen 11:4- "....let us make us a name lest we be SCATTERED ABROAD UPON THE FACE OF THE EARTH". The builders did not plan to see God, their reason for carrying out that project was clearly stated in the above verse.

Gen 11:8- "So the LORD scattered them abroad from the face of all the earth and they left off to build the city". God changed their language why? To cause division among them leading to the abandonment of the building project. The height of the building was irrelevant to the issue. . Can different language cause division today? YES. When we meet a stranger in a foreign country/land who can speak our language- Don't we feel a kinship with such person, even without knowing them?

What do linguistic say? Many linguistic researchers believe all language come from fewer (about cool older/ Root/ Major languages. In order words, all existing language today did not come at the same time, instead they originate from few sets of languages. All humans/ languages are from one common stock .

Is all this so far fetched that they could be viewed as myths? The answer to that is up to you. I do not wish to argue about things that do not build up spiritually.
Re: Did The Tower Of Babel Threaten God's Heaven. by Kay17: 5:08pm On Aug 15, 2014
^^ but everyone knows that all languages evolved from a selected few from the past.

As far as am concerned my Yoruba ancestors never had a thing to do with Tower of Babel...our languages changed by drinking different river water, that's the story grin
