Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim In The Name of The One GOD, Allah, The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful. As salaamu alaykum, The Peace Be Upon You.

This is a lengthy discourse which I began reading and thought to share. I seems interesting. What are your thoughts?

Humm, Interesting!

Every sect, every civilization has its own pros and cons.

What is beautiful however is to stay outside sectarianism to be objective

May Allah bless all the muslims, including our past and present ulama. Ameen

Well I shouldn't have posted that piece until I'd finished reading it. I had planned to critique it. It will have to wait because I've too much to read of articles et cetera. What I found interesting was Iraq being considered civil regards Islam. And Iran of course is theocratic. However they both operate through political means. I wanted to get a little deeper into that, but I didn't finish reading all of the links in the article.

I still haven't completed the reading of this article, but these two points are the gist of what I was interested in. A civil constitution which would not have control of religion. Have I understood correctly what is being related here?

Sistani’s insistence on recognizing Islam as a fundamental component of the Iraqi constitution is not intended to make Iraq an Islamist state based on juridical sharia strictures, but rather to limit the total secularization of the constitution, which would deprive a Muslim country of an “authentic” national identity based on its Islamic heritage.

And this, is what Islam is truly about, if we claim Islam, gives rise to Peace. It may someday do away with sectarianism.

Sistani could contribute to reducing sectarian tensions by working with other Sunni and Shi‘i religious leaders (including tribal leaders) to organize a National Reconciliation Initiative in order to display a united, powerful Sunni-Shi‘i front with an emphasis on common Islamic ideals; to express condemnation of anti-Shi‘i Wahabi extremism and anti-Sunni Shi‘i radicalism; and to form communal solidarity through the ceremonial process of intersectarian group gatherings.
