WHATSAPP update means you can wave goodbye to ignoring your friends.

Just weeks after the messaging firm upset its users by sharing their details with Facebook it's now added another annoying feature.

WhatsApp quietly rolled-out an update which now lets users tag individual friends in group chats.

This instantly sends them a notification, even if they’ve muted the conversation.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS

To tag someone, open an existing group conversation – or start a new one – and then simply start typing an @ symbol.

This will summon up a list of the members of the group.

You can tag multiple contacts in a single message by tapping on multiple names at once.
