Please, I beg you in the name of God. Except you know these scriptural references by heart, read the references below before expressing your thoughts. May God bless you as you comply.

How true is the doctrine "once saved, forever saved"?

My opinion as inspired by the scriptural references below is that the popular teaching that once a christian is saved he can never lose his salvation, is not a balanced interpretation and presentation of the gospel. I am concerned that people think that God would welcome you with his arms open wide even if you deliberately give into the lust and desires of the flesh. Could proponents of "once saved, forever saved" explain each of the following passages?

Matt: 6:15
Matt: 19:21-35
Matt: 10:22-32
Luke 12:41-46
1 Cor. 15:1-2
Colossians 1:22-23
Hebrews 3:6, 14
Rev. 2:10, 25-36, 3:1-5
2 Peter 2:20-22
Heb 2:2-3
Heb 10:26-27
1 cor 9:27

It is a satanic doctrine to send Christians to hell.

It is true. It is virtually the teaching the reformers maintained against the Catholic Church.

"Once saved, always saved" is not biblical. Salvation is a lifelong process.

True. I've spoken with people who hold such believes and majority of them often pad scriptures to support such doctrines.

Which implies you are not yet saved!
It also implies you save yourself!

There are two phases of salvation: salvation from sin(which happens when a sinner repents and embraces a new life) and salvation from the presence of sin(which will happen when Christ returns).

Somebody can go back to sin, even after repenting. Is such a person saved?

I can't save myself. I never said so. When I say "Salvation is a lifelong process", I mean you have a part to play in your race towards Heaven. The end is Heaven. To make Heaven, you have to continue living in obedience to GOD till the end.(Matt. 24:13). Thus, you are getting saved.

I would like to read your opinion on Luke 12:42-46. Could you kindly reconcile this parable with the doctrine that assumes every saved Christian will make heaven?

It depends on what people consider as "Once Saved always Saved". I also depends on what you think Christ did when he went to the cross and ascended to glory. It also depends on what you understand about a Messiah. It also depends on what you think about those who keep the Laws and are not Jews.

So, when you can understand these things then you can be certain you know what there is to know. I'll rather let you seek than give answers to these questions.

But here is a Hint: Hebrew 6:1, Romans chapter 1 to 16, Revelations 7:9

dueal,

"So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don't need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God." Heb. 6:1

The writer was dealing with the basic things about Christ from chapter 1 to 5 of Hebrews. He simply wanted to move forward into the deeper mysteries of Christ from chapter 6.

This verse does not, in any way, support "Once saved, always saved."

Yes Hebrews 1 to 5 then 6 verse 1:

Heb 6:1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from DEAD WORKS and of faith toward God,

DEAD WORKS AND OF FAITH TOWARDS GOD.

The words are not; Repenting from Evil Deeds and placing our faith in God.
Ask yourself, placing faith in God to accomplish what exactly?

Please read Romans 1 to 16 when you can.

If you are reading from a translation that is neither KJV or NKJV then many things will be misinterpreted...check Luke 17:21, if your copy says "amongst you" instead of "within you" please get another.

You'll have to explain that term the way you understand then we can check if it's scripture based or not.

Lol
They will continue to pad and pad scriptures to make it look true but people with eyes will see that the doctrine of "once saved forever saved" is unbalanced. It simply emphasises one aspect of grace to the detriment of the other. While I know that a lot of christians who believe in "once saved forever saved" are sincere in their belief, this teaching has done a lot of harm in the kingdom. Someone will confidently indulge in immoral acts and say they are covered by the righteousness of Christ. Satan always look for cracks to find expression.

Care to reconcile your opinion with Luke 12:41-46?
First of all, we are not saying we are saved by works. Far from it. The issue is that we are saved by grace to bear fruits unto righteousness. If a believer is led and empowered by God but he decides to give into rebellion, will he be granted eternal life? For instance and as far as I can determine, it is fairly shallow to propose that the essence of spiritual regenaration is just to make heaven. The fundamental purpose of regeneration is to conform to the image of Christ so the born again individual may produce fruits that please the Lord. Eternal life is the reward for obeying God's word and maintaining the garment of righteousness given to us when we receive Jesus. According to the aforementioned reference, christians are warned of God's judgement should they treat His free gift with contempt

It may look like padding to you/some because you choose for it to. Your beliefs that it is not so isn't concrete.

Like I told the earlier poster read ROMANS 1-16, but first read Matthew 19: 16-25. These do not need padding.

I asked these very questions and got answers.

One question. Who gives the new birth? What is it? How is it obtained?

Reason these things.

Like I said, be very specific on what you mean by Once Saved Always Saved.
