Having participated in the thread about Kenya being far ahead of Nigeria, I have realized how much urgency there is in tackling Nigeria's problems from back home.

This message is for Yahoo boys, Runs Girls, Fraudsters and drug peddlers in and especially outside of Nigeria. Why do you guys engage in these businesses even though you know it destroys the reputation of our beloved country. What you guys do reflects badly on the good people among us.

Is there a way to convince y'all to stop?

Objective comments only please.

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two persons, Azuka Emmanuel (55) and Ndubuisi Okafor (23), with drugs worth over N2.5 billion in Cross River State.

The state NDLEA Director, Mrs. Anthonia Edeh, who made this disclosure in Calabar , said they were arrested on the Yahe-Ikom transnational route with 76.050 kilograms of methamphetamine and 100.1kg of ephedrine worth N2.5 billion. Edeh said the barons were intercepted during a “stop-and-search” exercise carried out by NDLEA officials along the route.

The director also explained that the methamphetamine was concealed in synthetic Golden Morn cereal packs while the ephedrine was hidden inside Semovita packs and five industrial fillers. While reiterating the commitment of the command to rid the state of illicit drug trade and consumption, she commended officers of the command for their gallantry.

Edeh, who also solicited the cooperation of members of the public for intelligence, promised that her agency would “demystify the activities of drug merchants in the state”.

The director warned the public to be mindful of methamphetamine which she described as harmful.

Haha well done Naijaland , the 1st step into solving your issues is to admit you've got a problem ,and to be honest all societies have their issues. As far as i'm concerned Kenyans also need to accept their alcoholism and illegal brews is a major social ill that they need to confront.

The bulk returns back to your country's leadership_ Signs of a fail country_don't tell me about those doing legitimate business or doing well without crime. Look at the type of suffering the youths of this country are going through, think of the number of graduates our universities churn out yearly and how many are employed, how many are demoralised, how many have lost hope, how many are depress, how many are doing odd jobs_think of a country where Dangote seek for graduate drivers! But ended up receiving numerous Ph.D applications_you will know the reason why nobody gives a hoot about international reputation_leave the reputation to those who sit on our common wealth_he who much is giving, much is expected!

Everything you mentioned is not nearly enough reason to engage in Yahooboyism and runsgirlism.

The problem with Nigerian graduates is that they don't think outside of the box.

Consider this:

36 states churn out at least 3000 Corpers every year. Out of that 3000, at least 65%of them return to Lagos to do what? NOTHING

Must we all live in Lagos?

If that 60% unemployed graduate remian in their states of assignment, do you know how many industrial hubs will pop out in just 10 years. Nigeria will have another Lagos is Abuja, PH, Enugu, Aba, Ibadan, Abeokuta, Lokoja, Calabar, etc. But most graduates want their money fast of which in this day and age, that is not how things work. Look at the US for example, they enjoy today due to blood, sweat and tears of their fore father sduring the time of the expansion of the Western Frontier. If their fore fathers behaved the way an average Nigerian graduate behaves, they wouldn't be where they are today.

The problem is simple, no Nigerian wants to actually make the sacrifice, this is why things will never change. You can blame leadership all you want but in a democratic setting, leaders are a reflection of their people, corrupt government means even more corrupt people who voted them in.
